b16 obd1 help!
First thing you can do is check your MTF level and condition.
Then check the clutch adjustment.
If these are fine, then the tranny internals, ie syncros are starting to lose their ability to rev match the gears, assuming there isn't operator error involved.

hehe, assuming that of course
When was the last time the MTF was changed? I hadn't changed mine in prolly 40k til this weekend, now my mysterious random second gear grind seems to be gone. That old gear lube was watery as hell. New stuf thick like syrup

If you pull the passenger side wheel, then look at the passenger side of the tranny case, you will see two large bolts, one lower and one higher. The lower bolt is the drain bolt, the higher is the fill bolt. You can pull the higher bolt and hopefully some oil will slowly spill out because the oil should be up to that bolt. If it doesn't, stick your finger in there and see how low it is.
I recommend buying 3 quarts of Honda MTF, a funnel, and a two foot section of hose. Use a drain pan and drain the old MTF out of the lower bolt, then retighten. Then use the funnel and hose from up top, put the other end of the hose in the fill bolt hole. Should take around 2.3/2.4 quarts.

Just make sure you get the filler plug open before you drain the fluid. Just a trick I do just in case. You don't wanna get stuck with no trans. fluid and you cant fill it up again.
