proabably got rusted inside, just hit it down carefully, or you can go buy a new antenna at almost any auto parts store

It might be your stereo.. I used to have an AIWA deck and it never sent a signal to my antenna to go down when the radio is off or not in use.

Clean the antenna really well. A little Mother's mag & aluminum Polish should help to smooth things out, and if it doesn't make it go down at least you will have one nice looking antenna.

My antenna wasn't able to go down all the way automatically. I always used to have to push it down.

So what I did was I sprayed it with WD-40 while it was up. Just make sure you don't get it on your paint. If you do just make sure you wipe it down dry. Should go up and down a lot smoother after that.

i've had the same problem... and i also have the same problem on accords my family's had in the past. i'm so lazy about getting it fixed... but you should look into antenna masts or if you want to go all out and go the OEM route still, just get a replacement motor with mast... others have gone the s2k route as noted earlier

WELL YOUR ANTENNA MAST HAS A PLASTIC TRACK THAT GOES INTO THE MOTOR AND SOMETIMES THAT PLASTIC TRACK BREAKS AND YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW MAST

exactly, its simple, unscrew it, and remove the antenna, it pulls out fairly easily. Then get a mast replacement at most auto parts stores for like 6 bucks, and tell them that they have it because more than likely they will try to sell you the entire motor with mast for like 5 bucks. Then just insert the new mast the way it was.

I have done this twice BTW, so im pretty good at it, and its really simple, you dont even have to get in the car to do it.

Also about antennas... why dont you people have quality enouigh stereos to get the antenna to be down when you are playing CD's or Tapes.. in my opinion there is nothing more stupid looking than an antenna sticking off a car... my alpine automatically does that, but you also could install a simple switch to keep it down when listening to CD's
