Default AC/PS removal?

I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to my car and making it faster. I've already removed most of the interior, including the radio. This saturday I'm taking the gsr to the shop to have a jdm 98spec header and apexi n1 put on. They are also going to install a dry nitrous kit i have laying around. What are the opinions of the board on the AC/PS removal? How much gains should i expect if I go through with it. Anything else I can remove to gain power? I'd rather hear from those who have actually done this. Thanks!

i took my ac outta my ls. i know it lost some weight the compressor alone is a heavy mf... as for performance gains...it "felt" like it pulled harder but maybe it was just me. wasn't hard took like 30-45 minutes to pull out. depends if you can live without the ac...

I Pulled the AC/PS out of my car 2 year ago. If your lucky you might get a couple HP. There will be less drag on motor so it rev a little easier and weight savings if you pull everything maybe 100lbs for both.

i dont miss the a/c but the power steering issue im still working on, i looped the fluid and ran a line the the resvior to fill it, but i dont like it. the feel is nice around town, but on the highway there is a good 1 inch of play in either direction of the steering wheel. i am in the process of getting a manual rack from a civic to put in. as for the difference, it does feel like it revs up faster, but i don't have any dyno numbers to back it up

Why do you say that? Did you drain most of the fluid and vent it properly?

Man, its going to suck to drive around FL w/o AC.
I remember going to FL as a kid and I hated the heat and humidity.

Yeah it will suck sometimes, but I grew up here and I'm pretty used to it (I actually like it). I usually ride around with my windows down like 11 months out of the year.

i had my ac and power steering belts off for a month or so, its definatedly noticeable, i'd guess 4-5 horse gain with the 2 off, but a big part is that all the components togehter weigh in at about 60lbs, so thats a big weight reduction. i put it all back on though cause i'd rather be a tenth slower and cruise with my air on while i turn corners with one hand

I second that...

Has anyone actually dynoed their cars with and without the AC or PS belts to find out how much they actually gain?

I made a loop with a "T" fitting in it and ran a line up to the resivoir and filled with fluid. it seemed fine around town and on windy roads, nice quick steering. But i get it out on the highway and it just gets downright scarry. anywhere above about 75 and the car becomes unstable. at first i thought i was caused by a lack of a rear swaybar, but now that i have that on i can feel that is not the problem. the problem is that there is a VERY large vague spot right in the middle of the steering, so with wide tires and the car wanting to follow ruts in the road, if i hit one and it starts to pull the car to the side, i try to slowly correct, but then relise that im still in the "spot" and the car is wandering farther into the other lane. It is a very unsettling feeling.

I have heard of a few other people experiencing this, and imo its not worth the better ratio steering for the unsafe feeling on the highway, i will be installing the manual rack as soon as i get all the parts
