99 Integra ign switch/column question
Okay so my 99 integra ls got stolen and they only took a few stupid things but left most of the car. Now they destroyed the ign switch and cut the wires and also took the ecu. I have found an obd2 steering column with ign switch but my question is can I just install it and plug in the wires get an obd2 ecu and the car will start right up? Or is there some security that will need to recgonize the key with the ecu? Anyhelp would be great.
Thanks
Thanks
You said they cut the wires to the ignition switch? So you can still unplug it from under the column? If so, then all you need to do is get another igntion switch and plug it in? Thats what happened when my car was stolen. They busted the switch with a screw driver or something. I bought an ignition switch from a type R and plugged it in.
You said you are buying an entire column, then you are going to need new shear bolts the screw into the ignition switch so the column will lock.
My 98 GSR didn't have any kind of oem security that needed to recognize the key so you should be fine. Just install the switch and ecu and you are good to go.

They busted the ign column off where it locks into the steering column. I meant to say I am getting an entire column with the ign switch and all. On the ign switch there are some small guage wires like groups of two or three they cut those. The key looks like a normal key but I was not sure if there was anything special in there.
Only the 00-01 models had the transpoder security key/ecu. You can also tell with the little green lit key in the cluster. So to answer your question, yes im about 99% sure that if you have another obd2a ecu (not 00-01 ecu obd2b) and a matching key/ignition switch that it'll start up. If it was a 00-01 model and had a different ecu then you'd have to have it programed to accept the key to start the car. The dealer programed it for me when I got a ecu off ebay after some ******** detroyed both my column and ecu when trying to start it.
Hope that helps.

Thank you that makes my search a little easier now. Do you happen to know the code for an obd2 auto ls ecu?
yea it's a p75 obd2a ecu. 37820-P75-A54 for auto, double check to make sure but im almost sure that's the ecu you need.
if you want to do some reading read this on honda/acura ecu's. always good to learn new things.
