96 JDM?
Hey guys, i'm new here. But i have an itching question. I recently purchased a 96 gs-r from my uncle, who only used it to drive from Bothell to Auburn only (no street driving at all) freeway miles all the way. it had 107k on it when i got it 2 months ago. now its at like 109. but my question is, i raced a guy with an 02' si civic with intake and exhaust, and i smoked him clean. the only mod i have is the top part of my airbox is taken off. other than that, it's all STOCK!!! and i looked at the sticker on the inside of the doorjam and it said it was manufactured in Japan. so if anyone can help me out, i'd appreciate it. oh yea the engine code is b18c1, but 94-96 teg's had them. so is it jdm?
its not JDM. You have a USDM teg. Judging by the engine code you posted....yea...USDM. My teg was purchased at a Honda dealership a long time ago, it also had a sticker that said manufactured in Japan.

I have a 96 LS and it also states on one of the "stickers" that it was manufactured in Japan. I've also seen other 96 tegs to include GS-R's with the same info on their stickers.....and I don't believe people are interpreting that "sticker" right. While the chassis itself was manufactured in Japan ( denoted by the "J" on the V.I.N. number ), I believe everything else was put together in the market place where it sold. Like for example...in the production line, the motor installed was a B18C1. I'm pretty sure that was installed over here in the U.S. or somewhere other than Japan as well as the LHD components in the interior etc etc. If someone knows for sure, please chime in. I always welcome the opportunity to be corrected
no, we're not driving JDM cars. but we ARE driving Japanese-made cars. 100% of parts were made in Japan, and final assembly was in Japan as well. however, they were sold in the US, which makes them USDM. built in Japan, shipped to and sold in the US of A. i think ALL DA, DB, and DC integras were made in Japan and shipped out. however, most cars sold by Honda/Acura in North America are made in the US now. to the best of my knowledge the only cars still made 100% in Japan are the S2000 (now S2200 IMO) and the NSX. i'm pretty sure all others are at least assembled here even though most parts are manufactured in Japan still.
Hes got it right. and 94-01 GSR's came with the B18C1 not just 94-96. And that 1 on the end of the engine code is how you know its USDM if it was JDM it would just say B18C, no one on the end. haha oh you would have to go through drive-thru's in reverse unless you have really long arms.

or a thin car. i remember i could just about reach my right hand out my del Slo's passenger (right side) window. for sure i could unlock it without leaning over and i could have it open and then lean over and close it without unbuckling my seat belt. civics are probably the same way but i don't remember the last time i was in one. my teg seems several inches bigger though.
