Ok i bought a 95 teg automatic. It has a slight hard shift when it goes thru the gears. But then the light for the gears on the cluster is out also. The only one out is the d4. All other ones are good. i was thinking its time to change the tranny fluid and possibly inspect the tranny mounts and bushings. Am i right or wrong?
mine does the same lol its the non-vtec "vtec" they have .it also does it when shifting between P-r-n-d4... and my D4 light doesnt light up either. i did a tranny fluid flush and it stopped for a while then started doing it again
ok i have a 95 teg also i just got a new transmission installed mine has the same shifting thing im not sure what the hell is up with it but they changed the fluid and all that and it still does it.... as for the d4 light take the cluster out and on the back of course you will see 7 tabs which are for the gear indicator lights... mine was out so all i did was take the bottom light wich is gear 1 and put it in the d4 spot and it was lit up just the bulb is out and my tranny works perfect and now the lights all light up yay
honda automatic trannys shift hard by nature, especially if you dont let the car idle down, hondas also have regular maintenance intervals on the auto like you have oil changes, once a year you should drain and refill, it has a oil pan plug and it takes 3 quarts of tranny fluid per drain and refill. Replace that D4 bulb as well as the trans computer uses the D4 bulb as the "check trans light" for diagnostic codes.
honda atf is the staple of choice, i run royal purple max atf because its a good synthetic brand, amsoil atf fluids are good as well. All depends on how hard you beat on your trans.
