3rd Brake Light
I know some of you are spoiler-less so i have a question. Around where i live it is required to have a third brake light wich is on my spoiler. I really want to take off my spoiler because i think it looks much cleaner but i dont know what to do about that 3rd brake light... any suggestions?

You need the glass with the studs to properly affix the stock brake light. I mounted an LED brake light inside of the glass at the top of the window.

They should. It's an important safety feature, and I certainly wouldn't remove mine.

I've been curious about that too, since it does not appear to be listed among the items necessary to pass TX state inspection, but is mandated by federal law.

all you need is the assembly and once you have that all you need to kno is how to install it

I have heard of people using an LS/ITR brake light and just sticking it in the window of a GS-R rear glass with double-sided tape. That's a ghetto solution, though.
However I've had my stock wing's LED bar stuck inside the bottom of my rear glass with double-sided tape (stuck to the plastic trim) ever since I took my wing off over 5 years ago. So yeah I guess thats ghetto, too.
From certain angles it's not very visible from behind my car. I've wanted to rig up a better mounting for it but I've never gotten around to it. I can also see the LED bar light up in my rear view, but I've gotten used to that also over the years.
I've thought about trying to fab up some kind of enclosure to surround the LED bar in the rear glass so I wouldn't see it in my rear view, but again I've never gotten around to it and I'm not even really sure how I would do it... maybe with blank plastic stock or something.
A better option would be to mount it up high, but then you'd have to extend the wires up there (I did not have to extend any wires where I have mine mounted).

^i was thinking of doing that too, but decided to put an led bar inside my 3rd brake light housing (as a replacement for the 2 incandescent bulbs) because i didn't want to see stray red light all in my hatch area at night when i brake.
is stray light a problem for you at night when you brake?

You could just get the LED replacement bulbs. My hatch glass was not drilled for the third brake light housing, so that was not an option for me.

Not really. The light is tucked high against the glass. The worst reflection is off of the wing, which would be the same with the stock interior brake light.

The light was a 1 hour install. I had to tape it in place while the silicone set. I also installed a spoiler without an LED.

Use stock 94-01 RS/LS/ITR 3rd brake light, extend wire harness for your spoiler wiring (so clip goes right into third brake light housing), solder, heatshrink. The end of the 3rd brake light sticks under the space between glass and hatch, then you use double sided body panel mounting foam tape on the top, while cutting it with rounded edges to match the shape of the 3rd brake light. mount, and it looks and stays in like OEM, without the holes in your rear glass. Done.
I am not sure of the law, but better be safe then sorry, I couldnt give a rats *** about a cop pulling me over as its just a 5 day fix it tag, but if someone were to rear end me, and I didn't have a third brake light, that could be something + to their defense etc. Id rather have those ******* pay.

You would see that tape through the glass.

The tape is black, and so isn't the rubber strip right below where the tape would go that keeps the plastic from directly touching the glass, it doesn't show at all, and trust me, if its tacky or gross looking I will rip it off and redo it. It sticks about a centimeter tall, so its a thinner strip but its good stuff so it sticks well and hard on there.

I've been wingless on my gsr for the past 5 years...and here in the bay area, you can get pulled over for no front plate, cracked windshield, car too low, modified exhaust, etc. I've had cops follow me, drive around and behind me, and not once have I gotten pulled over for not having the 3rd brake light. Even then, my gf's POS chevy cavilier 3rd brake light doesnt work either...never been hassled or questioned about it.
