little EF project for fun, I just like saying EF

Another quick update on Project Left, Right, Left EF.
The car came with an Autopower 4 Point roll bar but did not have approved padding installed on it so we ordered in SFI Roll Cage Padding from Stroud (available from www.IPGParts.com if you like) to fix the situation. Not difficult to install at all, it looks great too.

And since we had a nice Corbeau 4 Point safety harness here already we decided to donate that to the project as well. We left the stock seatbelt in place too so cruising around town will not be annoying.

A stock GSR header was sourced and our in house coating department (www.IPGCoating.com) not only coated the header in a nice Satin Black 2000 Degree Coating but the inner heat shield was powder coated in the same lime green we used on the valve cover. This is an understated look but at the same time does give the engine bay a bit more pop when the hood is open.

The street wheel package has arrived as well. The TR Motorsports C1 15×8 Wheels were fitted with 205/50/15 Kumho Ecsta AST Tires for street use (also available from www.IPGParts.com). The 15×8 wheels feature a +20 offset so the car will sit with a nice stance. We kept the tire selection for the C1 Wheels on the budget side since we do have some Kosei K1 Wheels with Toyo RA1 Tires on them for real track use.

Any pics of the wheels installed? I debated for a week on weather to get the 15x7 or 15x8 and I ended up playing it safe with the 7's but wishing for the 8's. Wondering how they fit with that tire profile.

but we will have it on the ground next week sometime most likely and can post pics of the car with the wheels on then for you
how do the trailing arm bushings look? although urethane upgraded ones still deflect a little, i would try them before going to a solid bearing type. what do you guys usually prefer to run on your cars?
figure i should bring this back from the dead. Did a bunch of work on the car today. The to do list is getting smaller and smaller. Hope to be on track with this car soon. I will have pics soon to give a little update on what was done.

Well since Louis and James forgot about updating the thread, ill give some info, we got the engine in, exhaust is in, its been aligned, were having some issues with the engine misfiring at the moment, hopefully it will be fixed in the next day or so, i was planning on taking some pictures of the car, but at the moment were working on the minor details that create the big headaches, the car rides and runs great when its not misfiring, hopefully it will be running good by the end of the week, ill update if someone else doesnt

Project Left, Right, Left EF is up and running, actually it has been running for a couple of weeks now and it is time to schedule some track time for it.
Overall the theme of a budget minded Road Racer has been kept intact with the running cost amounting to a whopping $2424.50 of actual cash money invested into the car to get it to the point that you see it pictured and running at now. Of course we didn’t factor any labor cost into the project as any true budget build gets free labor right ? Building a car similar to this all comes down to how good of a deal you can get on the car itself to begin with. In our case we found a great deal on a local car that had been in pieces for a while and came with a lot of extra parts we didn’t need that we sold off to recoup a good portion of the budget.
The short list of specifications includes:
1989 Honda Civic Si
B18c1 GSR Engine
Cable B16 Transmission with OEM LSD
New Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
Homemade Short Ram Intake
IPG Coated OEM Header
Aftermarket Billet Engine Mounts
OBD1 Jumper Harness with OBD1 P72 ECU
Momo Steering Wheel and Hub
Autopower Bolt-in 4 Point Roll Bar
Autometer Cobalt Oil Pressure and Water Temperature Gauges
Corbeau 4 Point Harness (stock one still in place too so you get your choice)
TR C1 15×8 Wheels with Kumho 205/50/15 Tires
Blown Intrax Coilovers (these need replacing soon)
Suspension Techniques Rear Sway Bar
Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator
New Blank Front and Rear Rotors
Hawk HP+ Front Pads
Hawk HPS Rear Pads
ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid
$11 Custom Front Lip Spoiler
Probably a couple of bits and pieces I am missing but that that is the jist of it. Stay tuned for more updates as the car starts hitting tracks in the Southeast for some fun.

do you think you should put a full width radiator in, because my experience with our buddies cars has been very negative with 1/2 rads..
most of the air just goes around the radiator, because thats the easiest place for it to go...at least block off the space next to it, forcing air through (it'd probably be fine if you do this). that is why with the ac condenser in, most EK and EG civics do fine with these...
seen too many cars overheat with 1/2s...
great looking little toy...i love it.

I will have to wait until it gets warmer outside because as of now the car does not like to get to full temp when it is as cold as it is outside. That has been in my mind when it does get warmer outside we shall figure it out.
thanks man, yeah i am still working out some minor bugs but nothing that you wouldnt expect. I am still driving the car everyday just waiting on some parts to come in this way i can fix all these problems.
I am super excited about taking this car out on track to see what it can do. Should have no problem chasing down M3's

Well I am signed up for PBOC's winterfest at Sebring, so ill be there instructing and driving. After that i got invited to a Road Atlanta HPDE to instruct at that so ill probably be there. Along with a bunch of auto xing in the Central Florida Region. I just enjoy driving this car, it just feels like a old car and thats what makes it fun.
Nice. PM me next time you go out to a local auto-x, Id love to go and meet some new peeps and check out the scene. Its been years since I bent a cone.
