OEM EJ1/2 and EG rare and optional Parts
^^ There are some different styles available, too. Some have the Civic logo, and some do not. I'll see if I have some pictures laying about.
I believe there are some still FS in the hondamarketplace.com. These ones are billed as JDM, and do not have the logos. Pricey little SOBs too.

Another rare part installment.
Since I added Cruise Control to my otherwise stock CDM 1994 Honda Civic CX, and since the wheel I was searching for here was notoriously difficult to find, I wanted to find an interim solution that still had the CC buttons on the wheel.
Some of you might have seen the 1991 Honda Prelude Steering Wheel retrofit I performed for my car (Figure 1). With some minor adaptation, this wheel served its purpose well, but it wasn't really to my liking, as I prefer to stick with OEM.

Figure 1. 1991 Honda Prelude steering wheel adapted to fit a 5th Generation non-SRS Honda Civic with OEM Cruise Control retrofit. The buttons and horn are fully functional.
But, this post isn't about a Honda Prelude wheel, and I have now sold this setup to another honda-tech.com user.

This post is about the extremely, extremely rare Canadian Domestic Market (CDM) 1992 BLACK NON-SRS Honda Civic Si 4-Prong Steering Wheel with Cruise Control (CC) Buttons (Figure 2).

Figure 2. Extremely rare Canadian Domestic Market (CDM) 1992 BLACK NON-SRS Honda Civic 3dr Si 4-Prong Steering Wheel with Cruise Control (CC) Buttons, with 2001 Acura Integra GSR leather-wheel upgrade.
This steering wheel came ONLY on the Canadian 1992 model year Honda Civic Si 3dr Hatchback, the only year that the Canadian 5th Generation Civic Si did not have SRS as a standard feature. Of course, the colour is Black, as all 5th Gen Si interiors are. Other colours do exist (Tan, Burgundy (="Wine"), Gray), and these were found on a non-SRS Canadian 1992 EX and possibly the EX-V 4dr Sedans (approximately equivalent to USDM LX and EX). (They are also found possibly in Belgium.) Note that in the photo I have also upgraded the "wheel" portion to a leather-wrapped wheel from a 2001 Acura Integra GSR. The intent here was to most closely match the leather-wrapped steering wheels found on the JDM Civic SIR/SIR-II/SIR-S and the EDM VTi, but which did not come with CC.
What makes this steering wheel unique is most notably the centre piece. Where you would normally find an airbag, the non-SRS wheel has a hard centre piece with a Honda "H" logo (removeable to access the steering column nut), and simulates the shape of an airbag. Additionally, some of the internal plastics were different, the CC/Horn cables use standard wiring instead of flat computer-cable style wiring, and the rear external plastic is different - including no access panel necessary on the bottom to disconnect an airbag.
Behind the scenes, and perhaps otherwise overlooked, is the "slip ring", ensuring that the horn and CC switches maintain a constant connection as the steering wheel is turned (Figures 3, 4 & 5). This ring is designed specifically to screw in to the piece on your steering column that holds the combination switches, behind your steering wheel. (That's what those four screw holes that stick out are for - have a look.) It MUST be used with this steering wheel, and is again only found on non-SRS Canadian 5th Gen Civics with CC (and those Belgian models!). The P/N is 35257-SR3-C01, if you're interested in inquiring about the part at the dealer.

Figure 3. Slip ring attached at back of steering wheel.

Figure 4. Slip ring (front). This part fits into the back of the steering wheel and turns with it using the little plastic posts.

Figure 5. Slip ring (back). This part is screwed down against the steering column piece that holds your combination wiper stalk and light switch.Incidentally, the fitment of the Integra wheel on the Civic steering column is perfect. All plastics, buttons and brackets from the Civic wheel transfer over. The leather conveys a real premium feel to the wheel (and car in general, IMO), and I am pleased with the feel of the grip.

And now for something completely different.
For those people looking for more examples of the OEM JDM Honda Access Hatchback/Coupe Optional Stainless Steel Door Sills, here's a photo of them mounted on my Civic. Note that they're kindof an awkward thing to shoot, so this will have to do until I can sort out how to do it better.
