What Civic Coupe Should I Get?
hmmm...
I have actually pondered selling my 99 ebp si. It has basic boltons: Skunk2 catback, skunk2 ****/shifter, password shift boot, and skunk2/tokico suspension. I have done numerous little upgrades here and there. It is in pretty good overall condition for the mileage. 213k. I've owned it about a year and i drive it everyday to and from work, about an hour and a half total daily. The tranny works perfectly, no grinds or anything abnormal. I always baby the revs due to the mileage and the car has been solid for me.
The best part about this car is that even if the motor does blow at some point, a new b16a2 longblock can be sourced from hmotorsonline.com for about $1k and the car is right back in business. I haven't attempted to sell it yet, but i would let it go for $5900. Seems to be what you're looking for. Oh, and it does have a clean title.

no thanks
- 17-years-old (probably still in high school, will probably be in college soon).
- Has $3,000 saved up.
- Likes Electron Blue Pearl and Vogue Silver Metallic.
- Likes (?) the B16A2, but really wants an H22.
- Wants a coupe (no hatches).
- Likes the '99-'00 coupe taillights.
I'd say get a manual Vogue Silver Metallic EX (EJ8) coupe. It being manual will help that much more when you decide to swap. The EX comes with all the creature comforts of the Si, but lacks the DOHC engine, standard front lip, wheels and rear disk brakes (and a few other cosmetic items).
Some EX coupes also have optional ABS, which the USDM Si (EM1) does not. So far it's the only EM1 in the world (save for maybe the Canadian EM1?) that doesn't have ABS.
If you prefer the '99-'00 front, then look for one of those to begin with. Swapping the front really isn't needed since it's not exactly an uncommon front. Therefore, just buy it from the start.
If you get a '96-'98 coupe, the '99-'00 (DX/EX/HX/Si coupe) tailights fit on them too.
As soon as you get the car, get an alarm installed. Especially if you park it in a school parking lot or an apartment parking lot you will run a high risk of your car being stolen.
Ride in the EX with it's stock D16Y8 (1.6L SOHC VTEC, 127 hp / 107 lb-ft) for as long as you please or as long as you can.
Save up and buy an H22 (or whatever engine you set your mind on since it appears you might not be 100% sure yet).
It would really be a good idea to get his engine insured once he does the swap though. Make sure it's covered in case anything bad happens.
If you're not willing to pay $5,900 for a clean titled EBP Si (even though it has igher miles and mods) then you're probably not going to get an Si at all.
Correct i'm 17, but i go to college i.e. running start and am 1/2 way to a AA.
I probably know more about honda's in general than you guys think.
I don't want a high milage SI, as i'd rather have something less and work it up to be what i want, self satisfaction..making something that looked like **** into something awesome.
So i will be shopping around for like a 95-00 ex, or just a shell, and i pay for everything myself as of now, emancipated. So the whole insurance thing would never work. But nice idea.
I also am like the b16 and b18 more now because of the weight factor of the h22, but i like acceleration vs. top speed and the h22 provides that..but anyways thanks for the feedback.

my buddy just bought a vouge silver EJ8 5 speed with 178k with mild modifations he spent north of 3k his is a 2000 btw but civics in texas tend to sell high

The H swap requires cutting or banging up the frame rail on the driver's side, and H's are expensive. A G23 with an H2B mount should be cheaper and fit better. Look into the effects of the weight though.
For paint, check out the $50 Krylon paint job.

I like the 96-98 civic COUPE! Because you can do anything you what to them. You can make it an track car, and drag car, an ricer, or an JDM out civic. It's all up to you.... But I like that thorws years, and also wait tell you find something GOOD. because when I was 13 years old I whated to get an CRX, and I bean saving for years and I would one when I was 17 years old. He it is if you care.

Btw, the generation you're looking for is 1996-2000.
Get the hell outta my thread yo, just make one asking that question....don't say "sorry tot ake over the thread" cause your not sorry if your intentionally doing it....retards these dayz
look szczerbanator don't flame NOFX, seriously the most helpful and knowledgeable person on this forum. Secondly, they are stating you won't be able to sleep at night because thieves will be all over your car like a fat kid on a hostess.
EM1 is your standard SI and those engines are one of the most sought after in a standard production car, along with the rest of the SI parts. IF you are looking for an EMI(99-00 Civic SI) insurance is going to be a huge factor along with the potential of having to look for a new car, once its jacked and stripped. No one is doubting your knowledge of hondas, or autos in general...just the possibility of you getting yourself in over your head. Regardless do a stealth alarm install on whichever you choose, and throw some kill switches somewhere in there. We're here to help, not harass.

why the hell not, the vtec killers are the best (read: race cams) made, plus the look on the dumb rednecks face when you pull up to the wet box

i was simply asking a quick question without having to make a new thread hop off my dick.
EK is a general term (though technically wrong) meant to denote a 1996-2000 Honda Civic. Some might use it to refer in particular to 1996-2000 Civic hatches.
No true EKs were ever meant for sale in the United States.
Here is a brief run down of what they mean though. I'll include a commonly known trim and it's origin if there is one.
EJ6 - Coupe / Hatch / Sedan - 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC (USDM 96-00 CX/DX/LX/VP)
EJ7 - 1.6L SOHC VTEC-E 2 door (USDM 96-00 HX)
EJ8 - 1.6L SOHC VTEC 2/4 door (USDM 96-00 EX)
EJ9 - 1.4L SOHC non-VTEC 3/4 door
EK1 - 1.6L SOHC VTEC-E 3/4 door
EK2 - 1.3L SOHC non-VTEC? 3/3 door
EK3 - 1.5L SOHC VTEC 3/4 door
EK4 - 1.6L DOHC VTEC 3/4 door (JDM/EDM VTi/SiR)
EK5 - 1.6L SOHC ?? 4 door 4WD
EK6 - ??L SOHC ?? 3 door
EK7 - ??L SOHC ?? 3 door
EK8 - 1.6L SOHC ?? 4 door 4WD
EK9 - 1.6L DOHC VTEC 3 door (JDM 97-00 Civic Type R)
EM1 - 1.6L DOHC VTEC 2 door (USDM 99-00 Si)
EN1 - 1.6L SOHC VTEC CNG 4 door (USDM 98-00 GX)
Oh, and also:
JDM = Japanese Domestic Market
USDM = United States Domestic Market
EDM = European Domestic Market
And so on.
"X Domestic Market" means that car (or part) was originally built to be sold in "X" country (or continent). It has nothing to do with where the part was built or assembled.
For example, US '94-'01 Integras were built in Japan. They are still USDM though because they were meant for sale here. The same goes for US '96-'00 hatches. All USDM '96-'00 hatchbacks were built in Canada. They are still USDM though.
Make sure your title adequately describes what your thread is about too.
You'll notice "EK" being thrown around a lot.

That's not a little question. If you want decent answers you're really better off making our own thread.
