Icon6 Dropping the car off to Six Sigma Race Engineering

To start this post out, I got a tiny new part in today. It's not much but I thought I'd post it anyway. I'm going to be putting these battery terminals somewhere on the bumper, tucked and clean. I just gotta figure out where. haha...

Next, I finally got the car to Six Sigma Racing. It sucked because I had to borrow a truck, and do Dave, of DNR, a favor by dropping off Joe's car, the leader of SVP, at his house, then pick my car up and drop it off to SSR/DNR... The real sucky part was that it started to rain right when I got to my house to load the EG on the trailer... haha. All good though. Had to do the homies a favor but it worked out in the end.

Here are a couple pics of the drop off...

Danny is pretty busy with projects and he even stayed at the shop past 1am last night/this morning. Hopefully he can get the cage done in the next couple weeks... Then its on to the body shop...

did you really need those plugs for the battery? does the odyssey battery not last or have enough power to start your car?

Do you run an alternator?

I don't run an odyssey battery so I'm not sure if it would or would not last between races. The battery I'm using has something like 330 cca. It is enough to start the car and run it without any problems also. I am using an alternator. The reason I am going to install battery terminals is because I want to be ready in case the battery does die. My battery is tucked under my passenger side fender behind the bumper. I run fender liners so the battery isnt so accessible... If i do need to jump the car, I'm pretty assed out...

I like to be safe rather than sorry. I have had to jump my car in the past and even the stock location for the battery sucks when you are jumping the car in the staging line... just my opinion...

You sir are correct. I plasced mine in the same location just opposite side.

but what I am thinking of doing since I have the moroso battery bulkhead on the firewall is connect those plugs to that and also place them on the firewall. But I will see how I will mount it.

I'm glad you see it my way, haha. What do you mean by Moroso battery bulkhead? are you talking about the Moroso Thru-Panel Battery Connectors or something like that?

I think I might just end up putting the two posts on the passenger side front bumper grill. Clean and simple... Least amount of wires neccessary also...

Default Working on Wiring!!

My car is at SSR right now so I can't really work on the chassis, BUT I have all the cars guts here so I am doing some work on the wiring. I am going to be working on a race harness and also will do a wire tuck. My headlight harness was already tucked in the engine bay before the tear down. In order to remove all the wires from the chassis I had to cut some of the tucked wires.

I was bored enough to take pics of my wiring progress so here ya'll go...

This is what I started with... A complete stock Civic VX wire harness... Except the 4 wire o2 conversion.

Unwrapped a little bit

This is where I cut the Passenger side Chassis Harness when I was removing it from the car.

Some of the homies, bored watching me work on my harness.

Me and the Girlfriend..

One Days work... Doesn't look like much but there was a lot of soldering, cutting, untangling, rerouting done, I swear.

All the gunk and left over tape and wire loom.

Some deleted connectors

I still got to work on the driver side of the harness remove a bunch of pins...
I'll be putting in a bunch more work tomorrow...

Default Wiring Day 2, Engine Harness...

I got a chance to work on the motor harness and chassis harness today. I am doing a complete wire tuck in the engine bay aaaaaand I am making the engine harness similar to an EK's engine harness. What I mean by that is the engine harness will run straight to the ecu, no connectors in between. I will also be removing a bunch of connectors from the main harness to thin it out a lil bit. Hey, lets face it, my car is all motor so every bit of weight reduction counts.

So here we go with more pics from today progress. I didn't get much time in today but I got a lot done...

This is the back of the motor with the wire harness as is

Passenger side unraveled a lil bit...

This is the back of the motor unraveled, starting to look like all hell is breaking loose. haha

Some relocating done, not done yet...

Making sure the alternator wires are long enough, I didn't want to leave too much slack and leave it sloppy.

This is the injector part of the harness completely removed....

Another shot of the backside of the motor with some progress...

And this is how I left her for tonight...

Bye bye garage, start again tomorrow...

I'll be finishing the engine harness for the most part tomorrow, or today, however you look at it...

Not sure what you mean by de-pin the injectors. Are you asking how I removed the injector harness from the main harness?

If so, I just de-pinned the little power block thing from the engine harness on the drivers side and everything else just fell right out. Its a total of 8 wires for the whole injector setup so soon as I unraveled everything, it just kinda came apart as one whole unit...

As for the cage. Danny at SSR said he is out of plates for the cage so he asked me if I can run to his supplier for him and bring them to the shop. I will be doing this tomorrow. Hopefully he has some progress done with the car so I can take some pics... Soon as I get something, I'll be posting. haha...

Naw, they are going over the VC. Kinda sucks because I was trying to figure out another way of doing it but its tough... I dont want them running under the car either, thats also kinda ugly, hahah. I might run them along the oil pump, I have to see how much room I have to play with down there... If all else fails, over the top it is... My moto is Function before Form. Make sure it works and then worry about how it looks.

Default Wiring Day 3, Engine Harness again

So I just finished working on my wire harness again today. I spent a good amount of time on it and again, doesn't look like I didn't do ish. haha All good though. The engine harness is starting to be easier to work with and a ton cleaner than yesterday. I can honestly say I have half of the harness done. My hands are getting crusty and hard from all the glue residue on the wires, and from all the carb cleaner I keep spraying. Carb cleaner is probably the best stuff to clean off the gunk from the wires, IMO...

So this is how I started the day. Yea it looks exactly how I ended yesterday. haha.

Man this harness is nasty. Hella gunk on everything. Wires are crusty and sticky. ack!

Finally a little progress. Stuff is moving to the right areas, Kinda...

Its pretty funny cause it looks like a pile of caca. Thank god I have been doing wiring for a while. I know most of the sensor wire colors by heart. Plugging and unplugging and pinning and de-pinning kicks you *** if you dont know what goes where. A helms manual helps a tiny bit also. =X

Things are starting to go in the right direction.

Next step was to take this harness to the ground. Much easier to clean it and lay everything out.

This is the harness about 45% done. The whole left side of the harness looks pretty complete and clean. The right side, on the other hand, is a total wreck. haha

Nice and neat, this is the driver side of the harness...

And this is how she lays on my garage floor again for another night...

And the pile of tape, wire loom, and other junk keeps growing.

Thanks bro. I was worried about the wires at first but I said screw it. Besides, I did the harness the first time around so that makes it easier. At least this way, I will know everything about the harness and will get to make it how I want it...

My girl, shes alright, haha
