EcTune... what a joke!
Has anyone else given up on this software after not receiving the license file required to run it?,
I tuned a car 2 years ago with Ectune and the software is good. but the license idea is absolute *********.
Recently a friend is swapping the licence to another friends car and laptop.. paid the $25 fee. and for 3 weeks have got no where with calvin. We got some emails written in txt speak (U need 2 do this" , but still no licence
i didnt think i would ever say it, but im off to buy hondata!

Yeah, but then again it's not really a joke.
The software is GREAT!!
Think about it, there is only a staff of 3-4 members working for the company, and they are
dictated to know everything and I mean absolutely all aspects about the software.
Give it some time, call back on the weekdays maybe around afternoons and see what they say.
Understanding your comment precisely, I had the same issues about 3 months ago where
continuous non stop calls were given just to acquire access for tuning capability.
I managed to get it properly working after 2-3 Months. Lol.

i love my ectune
but i bought mine through xenocron and chris is awesome and quick with his response when my ostrich failed, i sent it in to moates and got a complete new one which required a new license, i hit up ectune first, then xenocron, emailed them the paperwork from moates saying i sent it in for an rmi repair got my license the next morning ...
not bad considering i did all of this in the afternoon and xenocron is 3 hours ahead on time from me

I will admit that Calvin's customer service can be a bit slow sometimes. However the software is great and well worth the wait. How many times a year do you pull the ostrich out and retune anyway?

very true, i street tune cars and dyno tune as well, and i only have one ostrich, so everytime i tune a car, i unhook my ecu from my car, hook it up to customers car reset license on ectune, put crome on ostrich datalog and tune the car, save the map burn the chip, and get the license back on the ostrich when done... been doing it like this since ive owned ectune with no problem

Luckily, I purchased my license through Xenocron so Chris handles all of my license requests... I do have to admit that the licensing procedure is a bit of a hassle, but Ive never had any problems in the 3-4 times ive had to re-install my program(new laptops).
Due to all the hassles with eCtune I have started to recommend Neptune to other people instead of eCtune... The programs themselves are NEARLY identical.

Everyone's been bragging about this neptune stuff, man I really gotta give it a try.
Should've gotten Neptune instead of eCtune, but eCtune is pretty much straightforward,
and took very little time to get used to even for a noob tuner myself. Must try Neptune
next time.

I gave up on it as well. Been using Neptune. Software works flawlessly, and have had none of the connection issues I used to have with eCtune. It sucks cause eCtune was well layed out software and had allot of potential. Just got tired of being stuck unable to use it when I needed it. JR from Neptune is on top of things and you'll never be left unable to use the software.
ive been telling my friends to get on neptune and the demon i like ectune for sure, but i also like how neptune has an anti start feature, im getting tired of pulling my ecu out every night and i just want to bolt it up inside my car somewhere nobody can steal it but i take my ecu out every night because without my ecu my car wont run as i have different injectors (that are painted black to look oem) and a different map sensor with an oem map sensor sticker on it
so my car wont be getting stolen unless someone knows my exact setup, and since i tune my car myself i will never have that problem

Well you just informed people with some of it and there isn't much more to getting it running. Setting idle takes all of 10 seconds to figure out the rough fuel offsets... regardless, can't stop a tow truck unless you shoot the driver.
what about fuel pressure offset my injectors are NOT small lmfao but im not worried about it if they want it they will get it, i also have viper gps hidden in my car as i did a full stealth alarm setup when i did my full wire harness modification and i dont have a siren or flashing lights or any of that ****... so if anybody wants to come try and steal my car be my guest im not worried about it at all go ahead and unplug my battery i have a backup.. or 2
and go ahead and try and jiggle my door cuz that wont happen either since i dont have locks on the outside or inside, so break my window to get in that wont be noisy everything is on a electric lock setup no manual locks in my doors at all, so that means no slim jimming either ...
so i mean ya know... even if they bring an ecu and laptop and they pop my hood and cut my battery, i will know someone is messing with it, ive had this car since 2004 its never been stolen i park it at malls wherever if it does get stolen i will know within the second and it will be tracked lol i aint too worried

i have over 600 invested into my alarm and anti theft devices and custom wiring im not one of those people that buy a honda and dump money into it and pray it wont get stolen because someone will try sooner or later and its the idiots that loose their cars
Well it turns out i eventually got my ectune license and its up and running. Took 2-3 weeks though.
The thing that annoys me is ectuns is straight forward and easy to tune with. its just the licensing and changing your ostrich to ectune vendor that sucks.
I used ectune 2 years ago to remap my own car and i had one day when i was at the dyno and there was no internet connection (scotland, in the middle of no where), ectune decided it wanted updated before it would run. waste of a day driving to the dyno.
and for that reason i will no longer recommend ectune to anyone who asks me to map their cars.
off to look at neptune!

good luck with your setup
NepTune. Always and forever. I have a standalone management that just needs a wire harness built but i cant get myself to make one since neptune runs my racecar (even with big itbs) so flawlessly.
Its simply the best honda based management out there in every way.

yea sure its a 2 month old thread, but i must say customer service from james is awesome... nothing like emailing him and getting a response within 20 minutes
my car is on neptune and i am a neptune dealer/tuner now
much much better to have someone who supports their software actually available to talk to/email and actually get a response +1 neptune -1 ectune

errrr... 20 mins? You mean more like 10. Normally when I email him I and refresh the screen minutes later, I see a reply. It's almost uncanny, everytime it happens, I'm amazed.... and I've sent a lot of emails.
Neptune has constant updates and a developer who listens to customers. Neptune RTP for the win. I really like the injector offset presets. Sometimes when you're setting up a car and you get injector offsets from datasheets , you input them and realise car is idling funny or you have to move the overall trim too much. Scroll through the presets and you find one that works much better and gives smoother idle and truer inj duty cycle.
