Curious Problem -- 2004 Accord Won't Start

Hi,

My 2004 Honda Accord 4-door sedan LX will not start -- I think it may be a problem with the immobilizer or low voltage on the battery. I took a video of what is going on; check it out here on YouTube.

HTML Code:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nHqGq8f_zpM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nHqGq8f_zpM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I am using the valet key, which is all I have and has never given me problems.

The car has always run fantastic. I drove it to lunch and back today with no problems, but when I came out 4 hours later it was doing this. All maintenance has been performed.

We are tight on money right now, so any help and advice is appreciated!

I wish I knew more about the 04's.... have you tried a new battery or Jump?

what does that little green Key symbol on your dash represent? Does it mean good key recognition or does it represent a bad key recognition?

That does look like a bad battery or bad battery connection

X2.

Check the CCA on your battery. It should be at 400-500. In the 300 range, it could be hit or miss.

It may be good to power the lights, but not enough muscle to turn the engine. The way the dash dims, make me think that.

Definitely battery/battery cable connection related. Video is sweet.

same problem, replaced battery, got alternator and starter checked not problem, starts fine one day and not the next. whatever it is, its killing my battery, it wont even allow it to start when being jumped.

Assuming the battery cables were checked properly, you need a starter.

The key has nothing to do with your problem.

I am only assuming that there is a short somewhere. Mostly like in your battery, starter or alternator cables. I also had somewhat the same problems,
I thought I'd share. It wasn't any of the cables, it was my key. The Key remote came of the key and I was trying to start the car with only the medal part and it won't. I had to put the remote back on the key for it to start. So it won't start when key is not whole I guess. I guess another thing to look at is the condition of your key... I hope this helps anybody....

Have you done a parasitic draw test to determine if you have something pulling power from the battery during key off conditions? That video definitely looks like you have low battery voltage.

I am pretty sure Honda had a service bulletin for this issue. If I recall it was #01012005 requiring the replacement of the fuel pressure regulator and maybe a PCM update from the dealer.
