i have tried a p72, chipped p28 and a p30. the p30 is what i currently run. car just seems so much smoother while driving and idling.

When I did the h22a swap last summer, I tried both... definitely go with the p13... unless you're planning on chipping the ecu. The p13 is designed to run the h22 motor, and it does a better job... the general understanding that I got (from h-t researh) was that the p72 would run the motor lean and the timing tables would be off. The car definitely felt much stronger with the p13 over the p72 (I ran both for a while and quickly came to that decision). There's a little extra wiring involved (EGR, etc) but the p13 is worth it, if you can get a hold of one.
Are you switching to a h22?

You should stick with the p13, add the spoon chip if you can. I have tried many combo's of ecu's and chips and spoon p13 is my favorite for sure!

I am running a chipped P28. The car makes great power throughout the whole powerband, and doesn't lose that low end torque like most people have experienced with the P28. I am not sure on what chip it is, but we are researching it right now and hopefully soon enough I will post up the specs.

Yup. Or, like I've said already on many of occasions, using a P28 with the Hondata setup and the Type S settings (with a little bit more fuel after 6000) pulls the best IMO. Side by side comparason with a Spoon P13 and Type S settings on the Hondata, the Type S program idles much smoother and moving through the powerband is also much smoother. VTEC is kind of hard to say until I get both setups onto the dyno, but both setups pull very good in VTEC.
Dammit, I need to get an exhaust on my EK so that I can take it to dyno-day this weekend at Autolink, just for this reason.... $40 for 2-3 runs is a pretty good deal (they won't let you dyno w/out an exhaust, or if your car is trailered in )

doesn't every h22 swap come with a p13 ecu?

how do u guys keep yourselves from getting so mad that your motors redline so low???? i personally love th4e high revving b series motors especially the type r motors... i drove a lude and i got so mad that it redlined so low i mean torque is great and i give ui guys mad props for doing h22 swaps though

p28/30 w/ hondata. How could you go wrong when you can tune every aspect of your ecu to run your engine setup at it's best?
Oh, and what is the stock redline of the h22? I have the Euro R h22 (not done w/ swap yet) and my redline is currently set at 8000. What's normal?

stock h22 redline is 7200.
we dont need to rev to 9000rpm to be happy. 7200 is just fine, if we made power above that, we'd rev higher.
but we do have something the b series guys dont. torque!~

Also, the higher you rev the more wear the motor goes through. My motor rev to 7500 and I'm happy with that.

Re: ... what ecu to run with h22a civic? (fastwanabe)
If you want a high-revving H22 motor, build it. If you want a good, torquey stock Honda motor, then there you go.... H22 is the ticket (a lot more torque over my stock B20 setup w/GSR tranny). There's a guy we know who rebuilt his H22 block (after his turbo H23-VTEC setup blew up), resleeving and using 12:1 Weisco pistons, Eagle rods, Prodrive oil pump, ARP rods and grease, Type S cams and valve springs, TI retainers, etc..... and he takes it up to 8500 all the time - supposed to be dynoing his car here shortly so I'll have specs on it when he does. But that was his choice... he wanted a torquey motor that can rev high so he built one that would do that. Me personally, I would have built up a B18 motor if I wanted a high-revving setup, otherwise I chose my H22 swap for other reasons.
