Swapped A F22B2 With JDM F22B (Misfires Now)
I just swapped out the complete engine from my customers 1994 Honda accord LX 2.2l Non Vtec. I Picked up a JDM F22B 30-40K miles on in. I just installed it today and the car feels like it has a misfire that's really noticeable from 1500-900 RPM. I have no CEL. I swapped over the USDM distributor,Throttle body,Idle Control Valve and the EGR. Im still using the JDM injectors. I checked timing and its dead nut's. But the car sounds like it's running on 3cyl @1000-900 RPM. Also when I pull the plug wire from #4 The idle raises up. When 3-2-1 drop and idle gets worse when removed. Are the JDM camshafts keyed slightly different than the USDM engines.
Suggestions??
Thanks HT

well the company I purchased the engine from does a comp/and leak before they sell it. And yes all cyl have a very healthy spark. i thought I read somewhere that the JDM keyway is different than USDM is that true?

You can't always trust people to actually do a compression test. You should do one yourself just to be on the safe side. Yes, the keyway is the same.
Double check the ohms on an injector since you're using the jdm ones. They should be 3-5 ohms. If they're 10-13 then u need to use yours. Just a thought.

Ill do a compression test in the morning, as well as checking those injectors. God i hope its just the injectors.

Okay so i checked the injectors and they all are reading about 2.4 ohms, I will run a compression test tonight when I get home from work.

I will take a minute to try and help you out though. I'm going to take a guess that you need to hook up the TDC and CKP sensors to your newly installed F22B. Your original 97 F22B2 does not have them in the distributor like the older 94-95 F22b2. They are located on the oil pump housing on the OBD2 96-97 Accord engines.
Without the TDC and CKP sensors hooked up you will not be able to start the engine.

Also you will need to swap over the crank timing pulley and the balance shaft pulleys from the old motor to your new motor. Without them and the sensors your car won't start since it won't sense the engine is turning over.

I ended up swapping out the USDM distributor for the JDM and the problem went away. So I guess the JDM engine did not like the USDM distributor.
