Per requests made by several members, as well as the staff, I have added this sticky to try and combat the current onslaught of "tire stretching" requests.

Things to keep in mind:
1. Running tire sizes that are not meant for your vehicle, can be extremely unsafe.
2. Putting tires on wheels that they are not within the recommended range of wheel widths, can be extremely unsafe.
3. Running an extreme amount of negative (or positive) camber, can have severe implications on your vehicle's ability to steer and brake.
4. This is not a thread for bashing tire stretching enthusiasts. Any posts regarding any sort of negative feeling will be removed, and further action may be taken.


With that in mind, please post any and all questions below.

I have ordered some bbs rs's im curious on the fitment tho!
i have ek hatch. the bbs rs's specs are
16x9 front and rear +11
anyone got any pics of a ek hatch running the same setup?
will i need spacers to run this setup?

iirc the 4x100 suspension will put that rim close to the trailing arm in the rear, but should fit. may have to roll the fenders a bit.. but that depends on camber and ride height. otherwise, i don't foresee you having any trouble.

There isn't much difference in your tire width between the front and rear of the car, with the setup you're mentioning. There is, however, a fair amount of overall diameter difference between the two tire sizes.

(Stock Tire Size)
185/60/14 - 22.74 inches overall diameter

(Your Tire Requests)
195/45/15 - 21.90 inches overall diameter
205/40/16 - 22.45 inches overall diameter

The 195/45/15's are 3.7% undersized for the vehicle, which is just outside the realm of safety. 195/50/15's would be a better choice.

When running a FWD car, the more contact patch you have in the front, the less likely the car is to understeer (up to a point, of course). If you could locate a 15x8 +38 pair of wheels for the front, you could run a 225/50/15 tire up front and a 205/50/15 pair of rear tires. This would make the car more willing to take turns at aggressive speeds.

I recently bought a barely running/ beat up 97 civic HX.
Now that I have the car running great, I'm wanting to make it look better.
I've got a set of wheels that are 15x8 with a +20 offset.
I know it is possible to fit them after rolling all of the fenders, but I was curious as of what tire size is usable with these wheels.
I want a very minimal stretch unless it's just absolutely necessary.

i want to avoid any fenders mods. I want to run a 16in wheel. what is the max width i may go and lowest offset before i have to start fender moding? also what tire size will need to be ran in order to accommodate? I dont want crazy camber either

Well, for a car running 0 camber, you're looking at a 16x7 +35 with a 195 or 205 series tire before you're going to rub on stock quarter panels/fenders.

So I dunno my dick from my ear when it comes to tires, soooooo all this offset and +20 and all these things,I would love to know so if you can explain some stuff I would be forever grateful but my biggest question here is this; I've got a 2000 civic SE sedan, stock suspension and all that,I just put 17"rims with 215 in the front and 225 in the back, in the back on the passenger side the tire scrapes a lot when I hit bumps and when I take left turns over 20km basically. How can I fix this and why is it happening?! The wheels are voxx. If you need anymore info let nee know what and where I can find it .

Ok so i have a 92 eg hatch with a super charged k20 and have major traction issues. this winter i will be installing pci bearings in the front lcas. I am currently running skunk2 coilovers with kyb agx shocks. with a 4 wheel integration disk setup. number 1 i am debating on doing a 5 lug for the 36mm hubs. i would really like to run a 225 tire al the way around so what should i do stay 4 or go to 5 lug. also how can i run a 225 with out rubbing. also don't want premature tire wear. i know i have to roll my fenders. what size tire should i be using and what offset wheel is recommend

Hey guys. I have a 1996 Honda Del Sol VTEC and i'm getting a set of Work Meister S1R. I need help with offset and tyre size. I want 16x7. I want a MILD-0 stretch and Mild negative camber. I was thinking 205-45r16. I want to avoid scrubbing also. I am also lowered on Eibach Sportline 1.8" drop springs. Any pics would be awesome or any info on offset or tyre size. Thanks guys

for a tiny stretch if any at all you could run a 195/45/16 or 195/40 as for offset I wouldnt go lower than +10... If you want stretch you need to go with at least a 16x8

Its not terribly difficult to run a 225 on a 92-95 Civic chassis. But, it will require some fender rolling.

225/45/15's are just outside the range of safe road-use tires. But, this will achieve your goals of tire width, as well as offer you good tires for grip.

If you run a 15x8 +35 to +40, you should be able to fit the tire snugly.

You will have rubbing issues, if you do not roll the fenders. As for the spacers, it will entirely depend on what wheel you go with (each wheel is different in design).

need advice on good wheel size. i have been looking at a set of 15x7.5 +32offset or 15x8 +20offset. i am leaning towards the 15x7.5's but maybe since you guys have more exp. you could steer me in correct direction. i want a wheel that is somewhat flush but do not what to have to use crazy camber or tire stretch. i like my cars very functional and not dumped cruising 1" off ground. thats kinda why i am leaning towards the 15x7.5's but some pics they look a little small. and if i got the 15x7.5's and wanted them more flush can i just run small spacers? car is eg BC coilovers BC camber kit currently on 15x7 w/205-50-15. also is there a diff. in fitment for ek's as i also have a ek hatch(15x6.5/195-50-15 right now). basically want nice flush look without crazy camber and small tires, dont mind fender rolling. thx

I'm thinkin of trading my wheels for these with 195/50 tires. am i gonna have clearance problem.. should i expect to have to roll the fenders?!?!

i wonder if there's some sort of shop, mobile service or fellow h-t member in the sacramento area that can do it...?!

I know my method is less then perfect.. a jack and baseball bat is how i've done it in the passed..

not really willing to do it on the dc..
