Tire size for CRX with 16x7 wheels
ok i have had tons of 15" wheels on my crx but i am stepping up to a 16x7 wheel and need to know what some are running on there crx with 16x7's. The car has progress B swap springs with a 2" drop all around, i dont want clearence problems or turning radius problems.I have been contemplating a 215/45/16 but am looking for opinions/pictures,experiance with this size of wheel and drop for the CRX..

- Falken Azenis RT-615, if you want a supersticky street tire that can also be used for autocross/track
- Dunlop Direzza DZ101 or BFGoodrich g-Force Sport, if you want a longer-lasting summer tire that's okay for rain as well as dry roads
- Kumho Ecsta ASX, if you need an all-season tire for the flexibility of use in snow and frigid cold in winter as well as in moderate to warm temperatures the rest of the year.
If you want to use a 45 aspect ratio tire, then you're better off with 195/45-16, for which you can get good summer tires like the Yokohama S.drive.

Yup, as I noted, Yokohama makes the S.drive in that size. So does Michelin, with its super-expensive Pilot Exalto. Goodyear used to make the F1 GS-D3 in that size, too.
But there's a lot more selection in 205/40-16 than 195/45-16.

i had a set of 205/50/15 T1R's on a set of SI' wheels i had and really enjoyed there performance.. I will begin looking for a similar UHP tire in a 205/40/16 if you guys think that will be the best viable option. Its going to mostly be a street car with a little bit of track use. Any recommendations as to who will have the best deal? Online is probably where i will pick the tires up from since local dealers can never touch online pricing. Discount tire direct and Tire rack are all i currently know of unless you can point me in another direction.
thanks for the reply's!!

If you want a daily driver summer tire, like the T1R - in other words, one that will give you reasonable treadlife (25-45K miles) and be okay on the track - I recommend the Yokohama S.drive. It offers similar performance to the T1R at a lower price ($64/tire at the Tire Rack for 195/50-15).
If you are willing to trade off treadlife for better grip on the track, you have a lot of good choices, including the Bridgestone RE-01R and Toyo R1R in 195/50-15, or, if you don't want to spend that much, the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205/50-15.
Discount Tire Direct and Tire Rack are good places to start with; when comparing prices, don't forget that Discount Tire Direct offers free shipping. Neither carries Toyo; I've found good Toyo prices at onlinetires.com and td4l.com Vulcan Tire is a good place for Falken.
