Softer Compound Tires "Flat Spots"
I have a set of Hankook Ventus RS-2s with a tread wear rating of 200 for summer/autocross. I was wondering if anyone has developed flat spots with softer compound tires after a short amount of time, and if so, how long? Also, at work, I would be parking in a gravel parking lot for 8+ hrs at a time. Would the stones cause indents? I just wanted to take some precations so I dont ruin my tires. Any help is appreciated -thanks

Re: Softer Compound Tires "Flat Spots"
when a car sits for a certain period of time, it develops flat spots on the tires. I was wondering if softer compound tires were prone to this in shorter amounts of time and if it happened to anyone.

Letting it sit for months at a time with the weight of the car on the tires.
Not having ABS.

I know how flat-spotting occurs. I wanted to know if softer tires are prone to forming flat spots in a shorter amount of time. And if parking on gravel for 8-10 hrs at one time would create indents in them

It shouldn't do anything in 12 hours to the tires than won't self correct once they're brought up to operating temperature.
I was trying to hint towards that with "sit for months at a time". You aren't leaving the car stationary for all that long, and they should be fine, but I certainly can't guarantee it.

My car is sitting on those RS-2's as well, and after two full Winters of sitting there still aren't any flat spots. But, the softer the tire compound, the more prone to deforming it is. But, most street legal tires are made to withstand deformation on most cars.
