Default Reverse Mount BBS LMs

What are the advantages/disadvantages/risks involved with flipping the faces of the rims and mounting them that way? I hear that by flipping the faces to the backsides, it lowers offset by 14mm. Any risks involved aside from the crap that's built up from being mated to the rotor on the backside face?

Why don't you just clean what's on there? As for the paint itself, it should be good unless you plan on taking your car out to the track and beating on them.. Then when the paint melts you may have wobble/play.. To be safe you could just strip that outter ring of paint..

The safety bead will be flipped, so you may have tire mounting issues. Since you didn't mention sizing, I wouldn't be able to give an accurate guess.

17x9 +42 front and 17x10+50 rear on an S2K. Tire sizes are currently 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear. Never did tires, I'll have to do more homework on tiresI guess haha. Thanks for the tip.

I didn't mean the crap in terms of function but more towards aesthetics. I'm still in the process of deciding if I want to go through with it yet. As of now they have gold faces and are normal-mounted. I plan to strip them of their gold to the normal silver/polished LM finish (or as close as possible) so it'll get less attention.

The look of being "flusher" towards the outside is appealing, but it'll be serving a purpose/function too. I can roll/pull/flare the fender to accomodate lower offsets, but it'd be much more difficult to modify the chassis for inner clearance. I'm having no issue with 255/40/17, and I plan to up the width to 265 or 275 if I can. My attempt to try to make a do-it-all S2000. Decently fast on the 1320 (aiming for 10/11's), daily driveable, and still able to convert to a twisty track with a wheel swap. If I wanted to be simply flusher, I could just run a spacer.

ive done it several times and never had issues w/ balance. also working on a sandwich mounted set as well. im machining a new register on the back of the faces for safetly and balance reasons.
