recommended +48 offset on a 7.5" wheel?
I'm thinking of getting a set of SSR Type F for my 00 Teg. Tirerack and passwordJDM seem to be the only two online shops supplying them.
Tirerack is a bunch cheaper, but they only recommend a +48 offset for a 17X7.5".
However the offset just doesn't seem right for rear inside clearance even if I run a 205/40/17. I'd much rather run a 215/35/17 on that wide a wheel.
I spent about three hours searching on here for guidance, but haven't found the answers.
thanks

I would not recommend 215/35-17, for all kinds of reasons. The outer diameter is over 2 percent smaller than stock, and tire availability is VERY limited. 205/40-17 is a perfect match.
Maybe you're making the mistake of thinking that the extra width is going to give you better performance? If you want better performance, get better, stickier tires, not wider tires. For example, the Falken Azenis RT-615 is available in 205/40-17, and will give you better performance than any street tire available in 215/35-17.
Most 205/40-17 tires are approved for mounting on rims 7.0-8.0 inches wide, so 17x7.5 should be fine. I can't tell you whether that offset will work or not, though (although the offset issue is entirely separate from the tire size issue).

Re: recommended +48 offset on a 7.5" wheel?
yeh i agree w/ nsxtasy... might wanna rethink the size and just get a 17x7 if possible or even 16x7 w/ 215/45-16 tires (if available) or if you really need the 7.5 and if tirerack recommends that tire size and width/offset id say go w/ it. and plus i have seen people w/ itr and 4x100 dc run that same wheel and tire size/fitment w/o problems
plus 40 series is already pretty thin....why go and run a 35 ?
i would go w/205/40-17

Good points by OJ. 16x7 is a very good fitment for Integras, and there are a lot of good tire choices that should fit, in both 215/45-16 and 205/45-16.

Re: recommended +48 offset on a 7.5" wheel?
Thanks for all the replies. I'm currently running a 15x7 +40 with a 205/50/15. However I'm converting to a five lug and need new wheels.
The SSR type F in the 17" 5x114.3 is only available in 7.5" width. That's why I'm looking at this in the first place. I understand the tire size dilema, and know 205/40 is the recommemded size, but I will see what offset I end up with prior to deciding.
I am more concerned about the offset at this time. Tirerack only has +48 offset in that size and PasswordJDM has +32 and +40 for an extra $125 a wheel.

Re: recommended +48 offset on a 7.5" wheel?
I'm not sure why you're even considering the 215/35-17 size. The offset on the wheel has nothing to do with the tire size; as for clearance, the clearance of the two sizes is about equal, with the slightly narrower width of the 205/40 making up for the slightly smaller diameter of the 215/35. And the 205/40-17 size gives you better performance (if you go with the Azenis, not available in 215/35). So there's no reason whatsoever to get 215/35 instead of 205/40.

Re: recommended +48 offset on a 7.5" wheel?
A 215 size was by no means my first choice. I honestly have not considered tire size all that much. I only piped up about the 215 size because of the increased wheel width and the tire sidewall angle which may result.
Yes I would prefer to stay with 205 since clearance will be tight, but I also don't want to stretch it out.
The problem is that I have my mind set on the a 17" Type F even though I know that a 7.5" is pushing it on the Teg. I really think I need a +42 offset in that wheel, but I'm trying to see what other people have used on a DC with a 7.5" wheel.
thanks for all the info
