Default Recommend me a tire size 16x8+38

I just picked up a set of ce28's and I knew from the beginning I might have limited myself with tire options (to a certain extent)

Setup:
96 Integra (supercharged: 250lb/ft tq)
JDM 32MM 5 lug
Rolled fenders
Slightly pulled in the rear (pretty sure)
Tein Coilovers + adjustable hardware (toe/camber kits)
Currently sitting on 15x7 wheels (not sure offset) with Hankook RS3 (older) 205x45x15

I typically run 200 treadwear (UTQG) and have been researching tires on the forums and tire sites. I've used a few major brands in years past (Hankook, Falken, Kumho, Toyo)
It has been suggested to me to run a 205x45x16 on this setup, for both clearance and performance. Specifically the Bridgestone Potenza RE71R.

I would like to run a slightly wider tire (225), but through my research, this will be to aggressive and will take a lot of camber adjustment/banging wheel wells to make fit. Falken has the Azenis RT615K+ in a 215x45x16 which would be a bit wider, but just wondering if that would have same issues as the 225.

The Potenza RE71R comes in two sizes that might work: 205x45x16 ($158ea.) and 205x50x16 ($137ea.). Obviously I would like to save a little and go with the 50 tall tire, but that would be an extra .05-.07" taller than the 45.
Also been told the RE71R has "thicker" sidewall so when fitted to 8" wide wheel it will not look stretched at all.

Car mainly used for dust collection in my garage, but love hitting the turns and canyons around my area. Might go back to the road coarse/drag strip again some day too.
Upgraded wheels for two reasons: Reduce rotational mass and increase traction (acceleration/cornering)

Thanks

Current Setup 15x7 (yes I know, Where is the 5th lug?

Current Setup 15x7

I would run 225 45 16 all around or a staggard setup (225 45 16 front, 205 50 16 rear)

225 45 16 Dunlop direzza z2
205 50 16 Dunlop direzza z2
225 45 16 nankang Ns2r 180 tw
205 50 16 nankang Ns2r 180tw
215 45 16 Azenis 615k
215 45 16 bfg rivals
225 45 16 r888r
205 50 16 r888r

i have used those and the nankang's are hard to beat for the money..

Haven't heard of the nankeng brand before, but maybe they are similar to the federal r compounds. I'll check into them. R888 are awesome too. Had a k swapped eg with n2O and the 888 were awesome, but was on blades so 205 tire was perfect. My main concern is a 225 tire will have rubbing issues, but I really want to use the 8" wide wheel to the fullest.

I’ve driven two different cars (r32 gtr and a gc8 sti) with the Nankang NS2r’s on them, in my opinion the sidewall is too soft. The Bridgestone Potenza re71r is a far better tire. I’ve run both a square 205/50/15 and a staggered 205 front/195 rear setup on my dc2 type r and my eg6 sir. The re71r is even better than the Nankang AR-1’s (80 treadwear track only) that aren’t available in the states yet. I ran a set of those before picking up my 3rd set of re71r’s. I hope this was helpful.

Also, I know a few guys who race gymkhana on Okinawa in their dc2 type r’s. Most of them run 16x8 wheels with 225/45/16 tires. The fit without rubbing.

Thanks for the replies. After a bit more research I decided to go with a 225x45x16 R888R

So far just mocked up one side. The rears are pretty good and fronts are going to need a little adjustment. Pretty close though.

The figment looks pretty good. Although, you might want to fold the rear fender lip up for more clearance. And the fronts might rub on the fender while turning with the suspension under load.
