Offset question.

Getting a Del Sol, I was wondering if I can or what I'd have to do to make 15x8 rims with a 0 offset sit well. Any suggestions?

Moved to wheel and tire.

Here's what I know:

Basically, you're going to have to stretch a tire over a wheel that wide. Which is dangerous. Like, 5 kinds of dangerous. My mechanic was hit on the freeway by a guy using stretched tires because both the rear sidewalls blew at the same time while he was passing him.

And you're going to need to roll the fenders and run a camber kit with a LOT of negative camber to make the wheels fit properly.

I do not advise doing this for the mere fact that you're likely to have a lot of suspension maintenance issues, and go through tires like nobody's business. Not to mention the danger of your sidewalls failing prematurely.

yep. get wheels that fit the car and tires that fit, and enjoy improved performance and safety, and dont worry about blowing beads, or having no traction, etc

safest fitment is 15x7 @ ET35+ and 205/50R15

Re: Offset question.

you can run 15x8 without a crazy stretch and without crazy camber... you wont be slammed on the ground if thats what you want then use a smaller offset...

but you will have to roll your fenders and maybe even slightly pull them depending on how low you want to go.. also camber kit front and rear is a must... also if you dont have coil overs or some way to adjust your ride height you will need that...

once you have all that it just takes time to get the height and camber right... i have a 4 door ek and im running 15x8.25 0 offset and 4 degrees camber from and right at 6 in the rear, which is a bit much but its not a daily so i dont mind...

I don't like the heavy camber looks, I just really like the rims. Thanks though.

It's pretty tough to have one without the other.

Re: Offset question.

you can do it... you will not sit low though... and your fitment will look a little funky cause you will have a good gap between fender and tire...

to me get, try em, if you dont like them then you can easily trade them for something else

Don't bother with a wheel with that low of an offset if you aren't going to put the time and money into making it look nice. Slapping it on, it will look like shit...

Not my car, but you get what I'm referring to:

The guy is trying to sell it and claims it's stanced....WHICH IT IS NOT.

This one was my old Del Sol....notice the difference:

Re: Offset question.

^^^^ that del sol is stanced... every single car has a stance my friend... and that del sol does not look bad... it just needs camber kits and run a tiny bit of camber...

and honestly i think yours is the same height as his, you just have bmw wheels on your where he put something that he liked...

to the o.p.--- its all about what you like, you run what you want and make it work how you have to... if you like it then thats the only thing that matters... to me the more that hate means im doing something right!

Re: Offset question.

hahaha....That del sol is definitely not "stanced". It just has some deep offset wheels and 50 series tires. He swears that his tires don't rub, but in another picture of his sales thread, you can clearly see that the side walls are rubbing like crazy.

As for as "the more hate meaning you're doing something right"....that's too funny. It really means people are laughing at you because you dont' have taste in modifying your car.

Re: Offset question.

no it means you do what you want.... to me you have bmw bbs wheels on a honda... your a retard... but hey its what you like so its your thing... im not gonna knock ya, I dont like it... long as you do then its cool

and stance does not mean slammed cambered and poking.... stance is the way something sits... he is trying to use it in the term that he is slammed poked and whatever... im just saying that he is not wrong by saying it has stance... every car has stance including a stock one...
