Default GSR Blade Question

Hi, I just recently traded my gsr for a 99 hatch. We also swapped rims. I'm looking to see what H badge center cap will fit my gsr blades.

Also what would a good tire be, I have the stock sized tires on now, 60 series, and they rub hard core.

Thanks!

You don't have stock sized tires on there; a 60 aspect ratio tire is not the stock size, and that's why it's rubbing. The stock size for the GS-R is 195/55-15. The stock size for your '99 Civic is 185/65-14, which is the same outer diameter as 195/55-15. So the best size for those wheels on your car is the same as the stock size for the GS-R: 195/55-15, which should NOT rub. You can also use 205/50-15, which is 1.7 percent smaller than stock. I would get the 195/55-15 size if it's available in the tire you're considering, otherwise get the 205/50-15.

As far as a "good" tire, it all depends on how you plan to use it.

Are these tires for moderate to warm weather use? I'm guessing that you have a separate set of winter tires for our harsh winters - yes? If so, you can get a summer tire; however, if you have to drive these tires year round in Green Bay, at a minimum you will need to get an all-season tire that won't perform as well the rest of the year as a summer tire will.

Do you plan to use these tires for autocross and track events, so you're willing to spend more money for a better performing tire? Or are they for everyday street driving, and you care a lot about how much they cost and how long they last?

IF you are looking for a summer tire, and if you are looking for good value as well as good performance, then I recommend either the Kumho Ecsta SPT or the Yokohama AVS ES100. Both the SPT and the ES100 offer very good performance on dry pavement and excellent on wet pavement, both are available in 195/55-15 and are reasonably priced (around $60/tire in that size), and both should last a long time (25-40K miles).

There are other tires that offer even better performance, but they cost more money and typically don't last as long as the SPT or ES100, so they probably aren't worth it unless you are autocrossing or doing track events or have a high-horsepower application (e.g. turbo). I'm referring to the Toyo T1-R in 195/55-15 and the Kumho Ecsta MX in 205/50-15 in the $80-90 range, the Bridgestone S-03 in 205/50-15 around $140, and the rapid-wearing Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205/50-15 for $78. For most folks who don't care about that last iota of performance, the SPT or the ES100 are all you need.

Thanks for the response.

I'll prolly be getting summer tires for these rims. I'll prolly be going for the 205/50's then b/c i would prefer teh wider tire and the little more traction. Or maybe the 195's, something just to hold me over til i pick up new rims. I will also be getting a drag tire on different rims for when I go to the track.

Now how bout like a Honda Center Cap for my Acura Rims. I dont really like the A badge on my rims and dont like not having center caps. Will the SI center cap fit?

What would be a good 16" sized summer tire? the rims i'm picking up are 16x7's btw

Thanks in advance!

Size: 205/45-16. Again, same questions as above - depending on how much you're willing to trade off performance for price and treadlife, you can start with the SPT or ES100, spend a bit more for the T1-R or MX, spend a bit more for the S-03 or the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. The Azenis isn't available in a suitable 16" size yet.

I went there yesterday and they were gonna charge me a freaking crazy amount of 27 and some change per center cap, then I wanted two license plate plugs to cover my holes, i picked a set up for free for my g/fs car there, and now they wanted to charge me 8 bucks a piece for those. freaking dealers **** me off
