Welding Tubes -- What's that cutting helper called!
Howdy,
So I don't know the name of this tool but it goes around a steel tube and has about 300 little steel rods around it so when you want to attach a tube to another tube, like a roll cage or whatever, it allows you to put the tube at the angle desired then slide all these little steel rods against the part and then slide it back and trace out the profile it made on the tube so you can cut it with... whatever means and tig it/weld it?
Name that tool!

I know its a stupid question , but at 42$/44$ for 1 inch and 1.25 inch PipeMaster's
Granted they look like solid tools to use but humor me I guess what do you all think? any cheaper solutions?

I'm usually a fan of having the right tool for the job but... I've had good luck finding straight contours by sticking multiple pieces of welding rod in the edge of corrugated cardboard and pushing it against the desired surface. I used to use that trick to find the shape of the underside of the hood when it was closed to build heat shields. I've done it with plastic coffee stirrers too. I don't see why it wouldn't work if you wrapped it around a tube. Ghetto, I know. But it worked pretty well! =P
