I have been working on this car for the last 6 months or so and I am getting close to completing it so I though I would post a few teaser pics.
I will start another thread when everything is completed with dyno results.

This is the third cell I have made like this and it seems to be working pretty well.

how much weight did that rear end save you?

Not as much as most people would lead you to think. I didnt really weigh before and after so I cant say exactly how much but I would say about 10-15 lbs. I made the rear end so the wheels would be able to tuck under the fender not really for the weight savings.

Based on the fact that you don't see any welds or discoloration on the outside, I would say no. But with a sump that low, you don't really need one.

The only thing that worries me is only have one sheer point for the trailing arms. I would add a second tab. Also, maybe box or reinforce that plate so it doesn't twist over time. Other than that,

Do you plan to pull out the original subframe?

There is no baffle on the inside of the tank. I figured that the sump was large enough to not need any. As long as the tank is near full it shouldnt be a problem.

The trailing arm is only mounted single shear because I ran out of tabs. I plan on welding another tab so the heim will have 2 tabs. I also plan on making a large gusset where the trailing arm tube meets the "axle".

I guess I could . I designed it this way so that the subframe could be left intact. This way if the customer wants to switch back to the factory stuff it will make his life much easier.

just wondering if you think those band clamps that hold the cell are gonna be safe enough. seems that if one would let go things could get ugly.

The worm clamps in the picture are just temporary. I ordered a set of T-Bolt clamps which should be more than strong enough.

The filler neck is inside the car. You can easily open it and look inside to see how much fuel you have. This tank is really intended for track use but I guess you could try using it on the street.

The original plan for my car was for Aka to fab a filler neck using the stock filler piping. I was going to use some sort of fuel level sending unit with a gauge, but I got pressed for time and ended up cutting a hole in the floor and just filling gas through it. Works fine, did a quick fab to make a sheet metal cover for the filler neck.

No, the cap is not vented. He welded a bung on the side of the cell, similar to the pics in the above CRX, but mine are placed a bit higher up. I just put a 120deg hose end fitting on it for now. I'll be putting a roll-over valve soon for safety purposes.

I get the end caps from this place http://www.rbwagner.com/pages/Rbwagner.html but I know they are available from sharpe also.

The cap is not vented but as Redline stated above the tank gets several bungs welded on which allow you to run a vent , return and feed line.

So I finally got the rear end finished and thought I would post pics of the final product. I think it came out pretty nice for the first one I made.
