really easy solid mount diy mod
go to mcmaster and order up some "flexible urethane" comes in 3 flavors https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif Flexible Urethane— Offers high tensile strength, plus it's highly flexible, pliable, and water and abrasion resistant. Black 0.0005" 60A 1250 25 1 8644K24 $27.04 Black 0.0005" 80A 1725 25 1 8644K11 $26.66 Black 0.0005" 94A 3120 25 1 8644K18 $26.92 60a is aprox 2x stock .(stock is ~30-40a hardness) 80a is aprox 2.5xstock 94 is rock solid shit .. some one try it and report back on how stiff it is and how much vibration at idle and shifts u get with it u mix this shit . all of it .. and pour it into your motor mount . thers cavities in most mounts and allow play . this will stiffen it up alot . its been done befor over on vwvortex . dunno about hear .. i only seen ghetto window urethane mounts here . the mcmaster stuff is the shit . whont fall out or detieriate doo it .. heres a pic of my solid mount (VW) stock http://www.hostdub.com/albums/paco/191199262A.sized.jpg filled in http://www.hostdub.com/albums/paco/s...ount.sized.jpg |

yup i also read 'solid' for some reason.
So what's wrong with the 3M window urethane? I just did the exact same mount (passenger side rear) for some kid. I built it up quite a bit more than you did and it worked wonderfully. I'll have to try the mcmaster stuff some time if it actually is better. For reference I think the 3M stuff is about 60a going by your description. |

i completely striped out the oem rubber and refilled the hole mount with the stuff .. (reused the bolt mount tho) .. and i only bought a 1lb kit .. wasnt enough .
also i had some leakage from under the tape i used to seal it .. so it whent down a little aswell .. REAMOVING ALL THE OEM RUBBER IS NOT NESS NOR BENIFICIAL >>> i did it b/c my sht was shot .. and falling aprt in chunks |

huh, well the stuff i use is about twice as hard as a honda mount and probably 120% stiffer than the mount you have pictured there. But i guess doing a rockwell test with my dirty ass thumbnail isn't very scientific... I did it on a VW mount that was only a few months old (check my post in this forum for turbo pics) and it worked great.

the 27 is for a 1lb kit .. it will do 3-4 mounts whit out u reamoving the oem rubber .
if u reamove the rubber i say like 1.5 mounts ... |

The mcmaster carr poly is good stuff. I used it when I filled my lower torque mounts on the driver/passenger side.

the dc-2's have 5 mounts including the a/c bracket thingy.
problem is, you still have the stamped steel that its all attached to. cnc machined Al. is going to be stronger but obviously alot more expensive. not a bad mod for something cheap. oh yeah, if you end up using too stiff of rubber, can you just drill holes or tear more stuff out? then repour the mounts with a more flexible rubber? |

I am gonna attempt the front lower mounts and the trany mount or whatever is in that link over spring break. I will photo document it, let everyone knoe how it went. Can you get that shit at home depot or something?

ill probably end up doing my mounts with whatever is the softest urethane I can find (somthing softer than 60A- I hate vibration)

i used 3m window weld on my front tq mount and the side two on my d16; that shit is stiff as rocks. A lot of the rubber was gone so they're pretty full. And it took about 3 days for them to dry enough to put them in the car. They haven't leaked yet and by now i'm sure they're 100% cured
I wished i would have used the 2 part urethane stuff because i'ms ure i got air bubbles in there. We're fixing to urethane my friends mounts and we'll be using th e2 part with that. |

i'll probably try the 94a here once i get all of the parts for my bottom end together. I have a 99si and i have the 5 mounts, the crossmember mount, the passenger side mount, the ac mount and the upper drivers mount.
Heres my question... is that ac mount required when i fill my mounts?? The reason i ask is beacuse when i pulled my ac, i pulled that mount and within a few days i tore the upper drivers side in half, so with filled mounts could i just leave the ac mount off? |

It still never fully cured, so I cut it open and the core material was still liquid. I think it will only fully cure up to a spcified thickness. WHat that thickness is, I don't know. SO then I redid it but I did it in layers and waited for each layer to cure. It was a multi day process. I wish I had seen a thread like this before I did what I did. |
