So basically, my plan is to cut a nice sized hole in my hood and figure out how to bend, weld in, and bodywork a scoop that isn't an eye sore.

I know i'll need a sock, a water catch joint, and i'm trying to devise a way to force the air in but trap the water and drain it away from the air filter, while being minimally restrictive to the airflow.

Does anyone have the desire to help me design such an airbox? Its prolly gonna be fabbed from automotive plastic, zipties and a big *** tube of silicone. maybe metal if a design can be proven to be effective and warrants a nicer airbox type thing.
