Noob question about exhaust welding
I've picked up a JDM ITR b-pipe that I want to stick in my Integra to match the ITR muffler I have but the JDM pipes are about 5 inches longer than their USDM counterparts cus they had shorter cats in Japan. So my plan was to have it cut shorter and welding the flange back on to make it the correct length. I know next to nothing about welding though. What material is the OEM b-pipe made out of? Also, what's the best method of welding it? I'm planning on dropping it off at a shop to get done or somewhere that specializes in fab and welding, but I just want it to be done very well. I don't want the weld to rust and break down in a couple years due to the constant heat cycling that exhausts go through. Thanks in advance.

Re: Noob question about exhaust welding
Can you post a picture of the pipe ? Most oe pipes of that year range are mild steel maybe with a coating. High end models may have came with a low grade stainless steel.
If that job came into my work it would take an hour or so.
Your local shop would probably charge a couple hundred depending on your location to install you pipe
