Some people say so, but mine has never had a problem operation due to lack of power.

I use a Speedglass helmet, and considering that in a ten hour day, I probably strike an arc anywhere from 500-1000 times (the joy of production welding), I never have any eye fatigue, or see spots. I have mine set at a shade of 11, and it works fine. I also have a $80 hawk auto darkening as my back-up, this has a pre-set shade of 10, and I always have eye fatigue after using that one for even a few hours. So my opinion is that you really do get what you pay for.

Welding everyday, I hope you know that YOU SHOULD THROW THAT PIECE OF **** AWAY...IN SEVERAL PIECES SO THAT NOBODY ELSE DAMAGES THEIR EYES WITH IT!!!!!!!!

I'd not have a piece of **** like that, even for a backup. Get a standard hood if that's all you can afford for a backup...at least it won't cost you your eyesight.

I have a standard hood as well, but there are areas where I have to weld, that you cannot even lift a standard helmet up to see. So I keep a spare autodarkening one. I will be purchasing another Speedglass since mine is about 3 years old, and it is looking a little rough.
