metal question?
 
thinking of building a small sand rail style cart. what wall thickness metal should i use?

what kind of total weight will it be?
and how big of a motor?
what do you plan on doing with it?
any racing class rules to follow?

when we built our s2000 powered sandrail, thats what chromoly we used for the main frame, i think thats plenty of support.

we used .065 for the little misc. bars

we used .095 wall for ours, before I smashed it into a tree. ~55mph head on, and I'm still here to talk about it.

if it were chromoly, I might be suffering some back, and spine injuries, because it doesn't "give" as much as mild steel. Trust me, it will be light enough with the mild steel, that it isn't worth the expense of chromoly

Unless there's a class limit, use the better option (safer), and run bigger tires and more power. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

thanks guys, the car will be powered by a 1.6 non vtec automatic, no class just for kicks
