Default lug nut manufacturing.

most lugs are forged right?
aftermarket extended ones are too?

i was thinking about doing a production test run of 7075 AL lugs in 19mm, to see if i could get the cost down from the 70-80$ a set. theyd be longer for ex studs too. made by cnc

would this method be worse than any other company?
i dont want to have to worry about liability.

I belive using billet peices would be stronger than forge shaped peices. But like you might have noticed they will cost more as well.

Aluminum lugs? They are going to gall like hell and you'll never get them back off.

Those nuts are hard anodized which will prevent galling. But if you machine them yourself and don't anodize them....

Anodizing is simply a surface treatment. it in no way adds to the strength of the product, it is mainly for apperance and surface protection. On a lug nut application it would be stripped off quickly even by just threading the nut on!

I suggest raw 7075 aluminum. Hybrid PM me, i may be able to work out a low price.

get them "hard" anodized .. companies do this to suspension components . its a thicker stronger anodizing . ive only seen it in black tho .. dose not scrape off like the fuel fittng aluminum coatings .

Black anodizing is normally 18 micron. I don't think it adds any strength to the part, just a hard, more corrosion, scratch and chip resistant.

Anodizing definitely adds surface hardness. Anyone remember when STR cam gears first came out? The outer ring was not anodized and would wear very badly and chew up the timing belt in no time!
