I really dont intend to "market" these as its just a simple fix for the time being. I would really only consider selling them for whatever the actual cost were...(minus welding) I am still under 50 bucks in consumables and eqp cost per unit.

2fast is on the right track with that CAD image he posted. IF you can make sure they seal properly AND keep the costs down...They would sell like hotcakes!

what about plug wires will they seat properly know? even more, coil on plug guys will the coils height be a prob with the lowered cover?

Its because I wanted d16sandrail to do it that way. I dont like the look of a sheet metal piece over the valve cover. Unless it is a complete valve cover made from scratch but I dont have enough funds. I wanted it to look like its oem.

It was a pain in the butt to do it the way I did, but the reward is the fitment when I weld it back together, and when finished it will look stock.

Question:

So as I have it now, the inside of the cover comes about 1/8" away from contacting the cam cap bolts on the intake side. Which puts the out surface of the valve cover at about the same overall height as the camgear cover portion of the cover, so in my mind this is a good stopping point (about as low as possible).... so the exhaust cam side of the cover is very close to being the same height as my intake side now and I haven't touched it yet...it may be 1/8" higher becuase of that little peak area where the radius starts to go down to the spark plug valley. Heres my question...does the exhaust side of the cover really need to be any lower to allow clearance? Without a H2B car at my shop I am kind of shooting in the dark. Thanks in advance for the help guys. And I still think at some point I will probably build myself a H22 Valve cover from scratch, but probably for ***** and giggles since my H22's will be in a accord and a sandrail :-)

I think as long as its close to the same height as the cam gear side it should be good enough. How much higher is it from the cam gear cover side?

i got an extra vc that i want to do, but rather get one thats done. and just send my stock one back as a replacement.

I don't have it in front of me right now, but I would say 1/8" at most...I was thinking if that 1/8" is killin it, I could machine it down flat and weld a bead on that edge and sand it back smooth....so much work! lol.

so heres where I am at with it. Looks like hell in my opinion, but I'll start working on that soon. I am mostly done with the welding...what a bitch, still welded unlike anyother vc I have ever welded on. Something (must have been chemical) contaminated the hell out of this thing. Pretty much trying to make this thing appear to be un touched.

What is the actual height difference?
That still look alot higher then what I am shooting for... No disrespect or anything like that, I understand different vehicles have different requirements.

It looks great IMO. Got me excited to finish mine.

I lowered it about 3/4" on the intake side. When the valve cover is back on the head, the inside is about 1/8" away from making contact with the cam girdle bolts (maybe less than that)...so in my mind thats about as low as you would want to go. The exhaust side of the cover is now just a tad bit lower than the intake side of the cover...so I think I am done. I did some more finish work to it yesterday and just about have it ready for paint/powder coat. Just a heads up for anyone down the road that wants to take on this job...its a pain in the butt :-) If there is enough interest I could be persuaded into building sheetmetal covers from scratch, or possibly complete solid CNC Billet covers :-)

Looks good! How much would you talking about selling one of those for though. Looks like a lot of time to get one done. A billet cover wold be tight as F*** though!

The one I did for Linh is the first and last. It was a uber big pain in the butt! I don't know what the deal was, I've welded on at least 25 Honda Valve covers and never had any of the issues like I had with his H22 cover. I would entertain the idea of building complete new covers like the Moroso for a H2B, but not interested in modding anymore stock ones.
