When its all said and done... ur car will just looked squished. IMO.
I think that S15 is sexy as heck... but after looking at it a bit more... I like it stock better. I know there is an EF hatch with a chopped roof... a red one I think. Very well done. Not some backyard hack job. Looked kinda dumb. Also.. a few years ago there was a drag civic from Japan with a chopped roof. I think it was an Ek. Looked... OK. And I think GUDE had a drag car.. CRX? with a chopped roof... again ok but for the money to do it right.... I'll pass.

I have a lowered roof EG civic coupe. The roof is more raked than lowered. It honestly looks better than the stock roof line of the EG. I do not have any photos available as of right this second so please do not ask for me to post. The car is at a chasis shop being finished up.
Also, the EK civic hb chop top you were refering to from a few years ago is one built by Signal Auto Japan. It was an all motor car running an NSX engine. I have photos of that car. It was done quite well.

What is the term raked?
I'd like to see yor coupe as soon as its done, how much is it costing you?
The EJ coupe looks better when roof is lower but the hatch you can't say the same for it.
That cavailer is ugly I dont know what happen with that its a little too much of lowered- ness.

it could be done, and look good, i would say only 1" maybe 2", you go too low and it looks like your trying to hard, but if its just enough to make people think for a second.. could be pretty intresting, as far as paying a shop to do this for you.. well thats being a tool.

That line is irrevalent.
If I dont have the skills to do such a thing I will pay someone who will have the skill and experience.

1 or 2'' is what I'm looking for, the other day I was around some corvettes and nsx and I notice how much lower they looked due to there roof line and then I saw that s15 and I remembered that epidsode on monster garage where they chop the top on some old chevy I like the idea and I'll stick with it.

Re: (MidShipCivic)
The only Honda I would ever consider doing that to would be a 4th gen 4 door civic. I always thought they were a bit tall, but I would strive just to give them more of a 5th gen coupe height/look.

You better have some bucks to cough up. there is a ton of work into chopping a top that has straight pillars let alone slanted.
After the metal work is done then you get to pay for all new custom windows.
If you dont have the skills to do it yourself dont skimp on paying someone who knows what they are doing or you may end up with a roadster or a worthless shell.
Also if you are only wanting to chop it one or two inches you may find the cost very much out weighs the end result.
Good luck...

heres a chop that i did about 2 years ago on my old personal hotrod project:
the entire roof was removed, 6" were taking from the A and B pillars, 8" out of the back section, with new C pillars made.
there are many different chop techniques, this one would be reffered to as a laydown, or sweep, being that the roof line lays down or is swept into the trunk line.
most imports that are "chopped", dont have the complete roof removed and are notched in certain areas to allow the roof line to be lowered. (ex: gude cr-x, skunk2 rsx..) it is not necessary to remove the entire roof in these applications, because so little goes so far . you can lower the roof 1 inch on a civic and everyones going to notice.
as for the windows, lets not forget that most newer model cars have formed and shaped tempered glass, where-as with older model cars/hotrods, they generally use flat, double laminent glass. this is where it gets tricky, cause you dont want a choptop civic with flat windows do you?
we are actually contemplating cutting down the top on our s13 notchback project, not sure yet though...
hope this helps
edit: that yellow civic actually looks like a photochop to me

Re: (PhoenixTurbo.com)
yeah the yellow civic is definaly photoshoped...unless he went for gold and chopped the scion in the background along with the house (look at the door for the difference). besides that I believe he did it for reference, I dont think he actualy claimed it was chopped.
I can look good if done well...but definately labor intense.

The yellow Civic is photoshop for the topic to give an idea.
http://www.proglasswindows.com/
They can handle it they said.
Based off the chopped vesion I probably want a bit more angle at the wind screen and the windows shortened a little < which would be lowering the roof ?
I like the rear pillar angle fine.
