Default Floor pan repair. how thick?

Im welding in a few patches and I was wondering what thickness of metal to use?

Personally thinking that 16 or 18 gauge would be good. Thicker than the base but still thin. Wait for other responses before you act though.

id say factory is about 22 MAYBE 20 gauge. however, the factory metal is bent and formed in different places providing the stregth aspect of the deal. i would go with 18. main reason is going to be trying to weld two different thicknesses of metal which are both already pretty thin. the 18 gauges will defenitely put you closer to the factory stuff. good luck!

I'd still stick with something thicker like 18 to reduce the risk of warpage.
