Re: finally made my first "productinon" long tube header
Very nice. I remember when you did this. The design is so clean and simple.
Great job on getting a production piece going. Very important IMO to success in the fab world. |

getting the proto digitized pretty much. once the guy did that he made pictures of each tube in solid works or some program of that nature and`bent them out on a mandrel bender. "turbo" i just upped my gas lense and cup size nothing super special in case u thought it was lol. mike |

Re: finally made my first "productinon" long tube header
Looks really good Mike! Mandrel bent stuff is fun to work with huh. One question about the collector. Because of the angle the tubes come out is it possible to weld all the way around the runners?
|
Re: finally made my first "productinon" long tube header

Re: finally made my first "productinon" long tube header
to be honest i dont ask alot for my stuff (compared to other markets prices) and the neons/srt's and j-bodies dont have any support (well none of quality anyways), thats pretty much why. theres no point to try and get into the honda, mitsu or any other jap or european market those are all covered. besides im into the sow american sport compact cars anyways. and vince i use boiler paste on the collector joints so when i weld them the heat hardens the past and seal the slip on connection. im surprised u were the first person to ask that. oh and theres isnt really a demand for these things well there may be but people cant or dont want to pay to play. but ever so often when somebody does want one and the initial one is long gone i have the fixture and digi's to make one with no guessing.

Re: finally made my first "productinon" long tube header
Boiler paste, thats pretty cool, never heard off using something like that. Ive just always wondered

Re: finally made my first "productinon" long tube header
well i dont know if thats what its known as, thats just what i know it as it. may be called something else by the guys that actually use it for its intended purposes.

I'm in the market for a header, however I'm in Texas :( i started in the vw market, but i sucked ass back then, im blackmkIII on vortex, and yes to bad ur in tx. anyways the whole point of bumping this was just to throw the last pictures of these things up. i just got the proto back from ceramic coating and i wanted to throw up some pics of it and the stainless production one side by side. the proto looks awesome after the cermic coating in my opinion. i like the welds in it, it just makes it look more custom u know......... http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead001.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead002.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead003.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead004.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead005.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead006.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead007.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead008.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead053.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead055.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead056.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead067.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...lsjhead065.jpg mike |
