Looking to get a new saw for cutting thin exhaust tubing, cutting sch10 + sch40 straights and bends and also cut collectors.

I am looking to spend good money and was wondering whether to get a horizontal bandsaw or a coldsaw?

My last company had a really good coldsaw. That thing worked awesome. My current company only has bandsaws which also works awesome. In the end its going to come down to personal preference. Both have the potential of leaving a really nice cut. Ive build collectors on both, if you have a really good table for the coldsaw it could be really easy to make collectors.

we have a couple of each. seems the cold saw is a little quicker and easier to cut angles in my opinion. But a bandsaw comes handy quite often as well. We bought a 80 dollar TSW bandsaw off craigslist a few years back and that thing keeps kicking. Bandsaws work more efficiently with a lubricating system, which most of the upper class (and some middle class) ones have a built-on lubricating system. Our small one did not but we just rigged something up with a little windshield wiper motor and works perfect

I've heard some people say that cold saw blades teeth may catch and tear thin wall tubing when cutting? Is this true?

End of the day I suppose it comes down to preference...

Yeah that's what sucks about a bandsaw, if one tooth breaks, the whole blade is garbage. I'll be honest we use the harbor freight blades with no issues. The key is speed and lubrication.

I use the Rage cold saw and have only cut as thin as 16ga. Hasn't ever been an issue.

we have 4 dake cold cut saws at work. They are awesome and all have built in coolant tanks and pumps. Ours are 2 speed saws as well. They are numerous blades with different tooth counts and tooth pitches. You have to use the right blade for the material. Also if you bust a tooth or dull a blade a cold saw blade can get reground and retoothed. I only dispose of ours they have a big crack or they have been resharpened so many times they get to small to cut through decent size material. We also have a nice horizontal variable speed band saw with built in coolant. Both saws work great. IMO I would buy a coldcut saw just for the fact that its easier to duplicate cuts and seem to be more accurate. I think you will be fine with either choice though.
