building a muffler?
ideas and thoughts of building eather a chamberd or straight through muffler? say using a 3 inch pipe drilling it full of holes then put it inside of like a 5 or 6 inch pipe packed with sound deadning material. or building some sort of chamberd muffler? i just think it would be cool to build a muffler and if it shounds good then i will keep it on. aneybody with experience?

I'd rather make a chambered one, it doesnt sound as ricey. I designed my mufflers and my friend made them, they sound quite good. The first one is a straight through one, the one behind is a chambered one.

Thats what it looks like, that brown part is chopped strand fiberglass around the stainless tubes and then glasswool. |
Do a search on google for preforated tubing. I picked up some stainless 2.5" preforated tubing for a good deal.
I don't think you would want to do a chambered setup unless you want to create a restriction in the exhaust. It will be cheaper just to buy a muffler though, unless you are trying to do something that you can't buy. Like a 3.5" in/dual 2.5" out muffler... |
