WTB my first car
 

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a fun daily on a $4000 budget. I'm located in northern Virginia, but I can drive up to 6 hours for the right car. I need something that will last me through college, and I'd prefer something with vtec and a manual transmission. Here are some of the models I'm looking for, ordered by level of interest:
- 3rd gen integra
- 5th gen prelude
- 2nd gen integra
- 4th gen prelude
- civic
- accord
- any other fun, reliable car

Find the cleanest GSR you can find in your budget.

Which will be a rusted out POS. Clean GSRs go for 7-8k. Sometimes more. It’s insanity.

Junk or ball less? 170 hp by today’s standards isn’t anything. And those cars are very raw and unrefined.

Junk. I'm coming from a Honda Odyssey, so my bar's pretty low :) Also, I've heard that integras handle well even by today's standards.

Haha I meant the one car I looked at. It hadn't been well taken care of. Gsr's are still at the top of my list :)

They do because they’re light and double wishbone. Lightweight is also great for death in an accident.

OP, sit in driver seat of one and report back. Unless you're like 5'2" and super skinny, those cars feel like you're sitting in a sardine can. Hell, my Del Sol has way more room, if you can believe that.

That's the plan! I'm guessing it won't be a good fit but I don't want to rule them out completely until I've tried one.

I'm getting desperate. The Honda market around here sucks :(

I test drove one not too long ago prior to buying my Del Sol...1994 I believe.. Price was reasonable but I knew the guy was bullshitting with his story on why he's selling it. As for the car, it was cramped as hell and leaked oil from various spots. I hate to be driving it for more than an hour.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet :P I haven't test driven one, but the more I think about it, it seems like it wouldn't be a good fit for me. I think I'm going to hold out for a good Honda.

I would too, if I were you. I would rather buy a EP3 Civic SI hatchback before even considering a Miata. And I HATE EP3 Civics with a passion. LOL

Bump plus story

Someone posted an integra on craigslist today. It was a RS with 135k miles. It had clear coat issues, but it was supposedly mechanically sound. The guy was asking $1200 (which is crazy low honestly). I called 33 minutes after the listing went up and asked if I could come see the car immediately. He said I was the 5th person to call, and someone had already made plans to look at the car. It was sold a couple of hours later. I was second in line to see it. The best part? This is the 4th time I've been burned o_0

I'm still waiting to hear back from a guy with a '92 civic si but he's 6 hours away so I doubt I'll get there in time.

I've been looking since I got my license in February :puterjoe: I just want a car already
