Yes I did, I also did a quick Google search to make sure he didn't grab it off the web. He insisted on paying him friends family option so it put up a red flag to begin with.
He has 1 more week to reply to PayPal. Really sucks I have a large sum of money tied up in this I cant do anything with.

Never allow someone to punk you into sending as a gift unless the source is trusted. Asking to send as a gift isn't necessarily a red flag, but as a first time buyer/seller relationship, without a history...well, that is a potential problem.

No I didn't, I don't see why people actually do send it as a gift. Especially when its about $3 on the hundred.

I am no baller by any means but its less than $40 on the thousand. I honestly don't see it as a deal breaker. As a seller its more soft on the eyes when you say "Ill cover PayPal fees" As a buyer you're like Oh wow! nice fella, he's going to cover $6
My case the additional $12 is totally worth it. Glad I did it.

You'll find more and more that depending upon the item, many sellers will ask that buyer pay the paypal fees if you want that coverage, and in some cases, are willing to let the sale go. Otherwise, be prepared to negotiate with the fees. But no one ever insists on Paypal gift.. that's not a good sign.

I always cover fee's as a seller. That's the price of using PayPal. I really hate when sellers ask me to cover it.

Again, you'll hate it more, as it has become the standard. I don't feel as though I necessarily have to absorb that, unless I adjust my asking price to cover it. But it depends upon the item.

In the end the net amount is what I want in my pocket.

I'm sorry that it looks like HATCHIN238 got taken for a ride.
