Default FS/FT 2001 Honda Prelude 33k summer car

Up for sale/trade is my recently acquired 2001 Honda Prelude (non SH). I purchased this from a BaT action recently and is now registered and titled in MA.

Vehicle was professionally shipped from Indiana about a month ago. I am not looking to make any money and would probably need to trade to break even on my total overall cost which is my loss. (Sale price, Auction fee, shipping fee etc)

Looking for $12,500/OBO or trade. The car is the definition of mint and even smells new. If you have any questions or would like any further info please let me know. It is currently winter stored under a made to order California Car Cover (strongly recommend if anyone is in the market for all weather cover).

Originally purchased to share with my father as a summer weekend car but due to neck and shoulder injuries he has difficulty driving it.

What did you base the asking price on? KBB value for that car in outstanding condition (3% of cars in this condition) with 33,500 miles is around $6400 (private sale) in Texas.

KBB.COM is widely used by private sellers and dealers, as well as the NADA guide check it out

For the record according to KBB a 2001 Integra Type R with 33,000 miles from a dealer has a "Fair" price $19,225. I did not pull the price out of thin air for my car but thanks for your concern.

Re price, i think asking is fair...i bid on this car as well and went to 10,250 as this was my max w auction fees. How many preludes are this minty fresh w only 33k miles. glws, if i can step up a bit i will make you legit offer if still available when i get back

Well.. the Hellcat red key = 707 HP, so I would assume with vtec (of course) this would be pretty close to 700

You are selling a Prelude right? Other cars will have different values obviously. Good to see you are comparing and looking at blue book values.

You can’t compare the value of a Integra type r to a prelude, kbb is showing the true value of that car , I’m sorry to say but you will never get 12,000 dollars for a prelude doesn’t mattter how clean or low mileage it is, there are a hundred other cars for 12,000that I would buy before a prelude, trust me I used to have one

The sole reason I even mentioned an Integra Type R is that because KBB drastically undervalues the vehicle for what true enthusiast are willing to pay for one with low miles. I was merely trying to prove a point KBB is not the gospel for vehicle prices and any car/house/tangible item will always be worth whatever the market is willing to pay.

I respect your right to value a Honda Prelude at what I presume is well under $12,000 but I think you are pompous to believe you are the voice of an entire population of car enthusiast.

Vehicle is currently on HOLD via handshake agreement pending test drive in better weather. I will update the thread if it sells or becomes available again.

I Dont even know why people are even arguing the asking price. Its a asking price/starting price. Hes basing his price of the rare value of it. Its hard to find these cars who attract enthusiast in this type of condition. This car from the looks and sounds is practically new and he has evidence to back it up. Dude i dig the car and if i was in the market for a lude, I'd hop on this all day. GLWS!

Car is Amazing, price is.. maybe a tad high but where could you possibly find a car like this, red key... I have never even seen one of those. haha. Blue book price does not cover cars like this. 1 out of 10 this is a 13.

Definitely not a car I would want to buy, you wouldn't want to drive it and especially not mod it. Stick it in a bunker and keep it safe. haha

It's not a bad price for this condition/mileage.

The only thing that would make it more 'worth it' would be OE fogs and lip kit...

KBB doesn’t matter in a case like this. I gladly paid a few hundred over KBB when I got my hatch. Rare color, all OEM with paperwork, very low miles, etc.

It’s a lot of money, but I could see him getting close to it.

What happens here is he is trying to get "Bring A Trailer" prices outside of "Bring A Trailer"... That's a tough one.
Hold on to the car for a while and relist it there.

Join some Prelude forums and/or FB groups, and try to hit that cult following.

Preludes are generally "less desirable" to the regular Honda guys who value power to weight, etc.

GLWS!

Whoever asked where seller based price from, answer: he based it on the BaT auction. Try learning to read.

Potential buyer fell through after long wait for roads to clear enough for test drive.

Car is still for sale but won't be taking her out for a test spin until the roads are free of salt.

I really should just wait to bump this until the spring but oh well.
