Default FS: 2000 Honda Civic Si EM1

Located in Columbus, Ohio. 194,000 miles. Engine is currently “missing” and “Check Engine” light is on (low compression in No. 3 cylinder, may be a burnt exhaust valve). Otherwise in very good, very original/unmolested condition. Only modifications are AEM intake system (still have original intake system), aftermarket stereo (still have original), and aftermarket Si-style rear spoiler. Original owner’s manual and key fobs. Near perfect interior, very good exterior (minor front end damage and some rust on driver-side door). Only previous accident was non-structural front end damage (still have original hood). Owned for 12 years, clear title, etc. Two previous owners both worked for Honda R&D Americas in Marysville, Ohio. Timing belt and water pump replaced at 173,000 miles. New since April 2018: tires (General AltiMAX RT43), front pads and rotors, clutch master cylinder, front sway bar ends, front end alignment, valve cover gasket, ignition wire set, spark plugs, rotor, and distributor cap. $2800 OBO. UPDATE - current asking price is $2050 OBO.

The VIN is 1HGEM1157YL024642. There may be a double post coming that includes the VIN, which I will try to delete in a timely manner.

Front end and driver's side door was repainted in 2009. It is not rusty underneath, in the rear fenders, or in the wheel wells - just the bottom of the driver's side door. Pictures of the underneath are coming as soon as they are approved by the moderator.

I really thought that this forum would be the perfect place to sell this car, but it looks like I'm going to have to resort to Craigslist, Autotrader, etc. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? Would one of you be kind enough to post a link to this thread on some of the other Honda forums? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I think it's because of engine issue, red color instead of Si blue and then the mileage. But still smoking deal.

Quick question, i know it is currently missing because of the #3 valve. Does it still run? Could it be limped away?

From what is stated it seems like the vehicle was well cared for. I'm somewhat surprised it now needs a rebuild. If it were in California I would buy

Absolutely. It still runs and can be driven away. It idles pretty rough but runs okay once you get rolling - just down on power. I'm sure it will go freeway speed, no problem. I didn't know what the problem was initially and was afraid it would get worse, so I parked it and haven't driven it since.

Okay, so I took it for a test drive this evening and it runs fine at freeway speed (and above). I'm sure it could be driven a long, long way. The only symptoms are; it idles rough, it's down a bit on power, and the Check Engine light is on. It runs fine above 2500-3000 RPM. I even ran it through the gears and you can still feel the kick when the VTEC takes over. Someone please come and buy this car. I'm getting calls from the Craigslist ad I posted today from people who don't even know what a EM1 is!

Im tempted to fly out to Ohio and drive this back to Texas. How’s the a/c? Can you provide pics of the rust that you mentioned on the bottom of the door?

The A/C works great. so does the sunroof. Here is a picture of the driver's side door:
