1997 Honda Prelude SH - Needs mechanical work, Clean! $2000 OBO
* Name: Andy
* Location: Hampton, VA
* Means on contact: calgone47@hotmail.com
* Trades: No trades, please
* Price: $2,000 OBO
Please contact me if you're interested.
* Details:
o Mileage: 238,715
o Exterior Condition: All original vin tags. Pretty decent overall for it's age/mileage. There are a fair amount of rock chips and maybe a handful of door dings. I would probably rate it a 7.5 out of 10. After a claybar and wax, it would really shine. Also, driver side tint is peeling some in the rear upper corner.
o Interior Condition: Good condition overall minus wear on the driver side bolster. Also, one of the bolts for the oh shyt handle is stripped out. I'd still probably give it an 8/10. Maybe a 7.5 now that I really consider the bolster wear a bit more.
o CARFAX: Carfax is clean, but I don't have a copy anymore.
o Modifications: Just the window tint. I don't remember the %'s, though.
o Service: I have a bunch of records for the car from the previous owner. There is a new starter on the car, installed less than a year ago.
* Description: This has really been a good car to me the past 2 years. A few months ago, I ran into some trouble with it, however. Basically, I was on my way home back in January, and about a mile before I got home, my oil light came on. I pulled over to put some oil in it (I always kept at least a quart on me due to an oil pan gasket leak) and right when I got in my parking lot, the light came on again. I coasted into my spot, hopped out and noticed it was pretty much pouring oil on the ground. I had it towed to my parents' house and it has been sitting ever since. The engine was never knocking, I can promise that.
To be honest, it is probably something silly.. But I have been way too busy between working overtime and moving recently, to find time to work on it. I went ahead and bought another car, since I was planning on getting one this summer anyways, so this dropped on my list of priorities pretty quick. I'm kind of eager to get rid of the car, so I am somewhat flexible with my price, but I will not take an unreasonable offer. I don't NEED to get rid of it, if it hangs around, I will fix it or have it fixed, raise the price and use it as a beater until it sells.
Here's a list of issues with the car:
1. Considerable oil leak, the car is also leaking some from the oil pan gasket
2. ATTS light is on
3. It's been sitting since mid-January, so the battery is completely dead
4. Car has been under a tree, so it has a little dried tree sap on the hood (at least that's what I'm assuming it is)
5. The oil pan drain bolt is rounded out. I found this out right before the car broke down in January so the oil that is in there is less than 4000 miles old. I still have a few quarts and a new oil filter that the new owner can have.
That's all I can think of at the moment, if I remember anything I will update this thread.
I was in a hurry, so I didn't get to REALLY clean it, but this will give you some idea..

Yes, I'm sure the car would start fine with a new battery and some oil in her. I would just not allow it to run for more than a few seconds due to the oil leak. And yes, the AC works great. At least it did at the end of the summer last year. I couldn't imagine it being any different today.
