Car DOES have some tasteful mods done, but nothing crazy. Mods, such as the retrofitted coil packs, only help bring out the stock potential and make the car that much more reliable.

All work and Dyno Tuning done at Blacktrax.

The only real imperfection is scuffing on the passenger side lip of the front bumper. This is the OE lip from 1997 though.

Car is sitting on a tender in our garage and gets driven around the neighborhood about once a week. We have ALL the OE stuff, as well as a bunch of additional miscellaneous parts. NO RUSH TO SELL.

Why were airbags removed ?

Miles on chassis? Sorry if I missed this.

Why was original engine replaced ?

The original motor was bored to make a 2 liter. The car made 240whp with that engine. It wasn't the best "investment move" to do a full build with the OE engine but...

I have all pics of that build, paperwork, dyno and what not as well. The air bags where taken out for nothing more than weight savings. haha. Silly I guess in retrospect, but this was done at the same time as the A/C. I had no need for that and wanted the power to weight to feel more like
the JDM units. I have the OE air bag tray and the OE steering wheel with air bag too. I should note that all body panel VINs match, as well as the chassis. I have just about every OE part too. A/C, Stockmanifolds, etc.

I literally have tons of stuff and paperwork for everything.

Much appreciated my friend! I didn't mean to gloss over your comment.

You honestly never know how people are going to react to your car once you put it up for sale. Especially if you do anything "controversial", like mods to a real Type R.

Purists will question why you did it, others will question why ur asking a lot for a relatively stock car that doesn't make Crazy power like my other cars. No win. LOL

It looks nice. But without the original engine...that's just too bad. There are a lot of modifications too. Tough to price something like this.

I appreciate your assessment. The reality is though that there aren't many modifications that can't be reversed. We have most of the original parts. From the oem intake & header, to the steering wheel and shifter.
In my eyes, this is lightly modified. The ONLY real downside for a collector is that the block is not the OE, VIN matched original. Unfortunately I sold that when I had Blacktrax put this current motor in.

I do agree that it's hard to price like this, but I enjoyed the car. It certainly wasn't beat on...but it WAS ours and we enjoyed it. I recently saw a salvage (total loss) ITR, with air bags deployed in the pic and the front end smashed in, sell for 10k.
As I said, I'm very rational and willing to negotiate offers within reason. I'm just not willing to let it go unless I feel I'm getting a good and fair amount. It's still relatively rare, clean and has no rust or issues.

Awesome Type R! Sure it is not perfect but many have these cars have been through a lot worse. Sounds like the body is in excellent condition plus VINs matching.
Btw do you have the 1997 tail lights? They are discontinued and NLA.

With all the extra parts I bet you will have 20k USD in hand very quickly. Good luck!

But it's really sweet that it's a '97.

YEAH! I actually do have the OE lights in a box in the garage. I just liked the solid red at the time. My girl found them, cleaned them up and we swapped them out.

SOLD!

I want to say thanks again to everyone's kind words, as well as those who showed genuine interest. It went to a great home of a member with ANOTHER Type R.
I really feel good about the sale. Best outcome.
