torque converter + speed sensor both bad?

Ok so I have a 96 accord Ex vtec with auto tranny.

Back in november my trans flared after shifting gears and then one day on the highway a CEL came on and it went to redline and hardly shifted from second after that. I ended up disconnecting the battery for a half hour then connecting it. CEL is off but it shifts into second gear at 5k rpm. I decided to do a trans fluid change, but before I did that I jacked up the front end to check for leaks.. no leaks. Then I put it back down and it drove fine, shifted normally. I let it sit for a day, started shifting erratically. I changed the trans fluid with atf-z1 3 quarts and cleaned the magnetic plug. Shifted beautifully and I decided to take it on a test drive.....

After about 20 min, it started to act up slowly.. then at 73mph and 3450 rpm CEL kicks on and it gets worse. I pulled two codes, P0740 and P0715 regarding the torque converter and speed sensor..

Can both of these go bad at the same time? Would it even be worth replacing individually vs new tranny?

I pulled 2 codes
