Selector Fork Types

Hi Guys, Can anybody tell me why there are 2 types of B series shift forks and are they interchangeable between boxes?

Cable and hydro. I've never had the need to interchange them so I can't answer the latter part with any certainty.

Both of these forks are from hydro boxes, One is Y21 and the other is a S9b.

Both from hydro there will be no difference in fitment aside from the usual VTEC or non-VTEC. The cast forks could be a carry over in the early hydro transmissions. I'm not sure why Honda utilized them.
