replaced CV's, car does not move!?
96 Acura Integra GSR 5 speed trans. My girlfriends GSR had what felt like a jammed CV due to a great vibration at the steering wheel; so we bought new CV's even though they looked fine. I have replaced CV's on Hondas a million times, but what happened is the first for me. When removing the passenger side, we thought we heard something drop, almost like a ping sound; looked inside and out and found nothing wrong or missing. We put the new CV in, got the car back together, and when trying to test drive, the car went no where; when releasing the clutch, there was a slight grind sound, like the CV is not properly set, which was not the case. I pulled the CV out and compared the two again, the only difference was a grove at the end of the splines on the outer side (trans input shaft, where the splines stop) that I do not recall ever seeing before. I put the original CV back in, and have the same problem. Now, this makes me think something in the diff was damaged and possibly cut the grove in the cv, and when I took it out, it came apart inside the trans. It could be a coincidence, but either way, the car will not move after replacing the CV axles. Does anyone know what may have happened and how I can fix this?

A) Pics are needs
B) details of the driving leading up to the failure.
C) Sounds like a broke spider gear or it lost a tooth, likely due to wheel hop.
Does the speedo read anything if the clutch is engaged while in gear?

I cannot get pics, I would have to pull it back down in the rain. She does not drive the car hard at all, but she got it from a guy that probably did. I was told that "the pin" may have fallen out and the spider gear was probably damaged. Either way, I have to pull it down and see what I can find I guess. Thank you for the info.

She said she has never done a burn out or driven it hard, but it has always shook above 45 since she bought it. She had the tires checked thinking maybe they were out of balance, but that was not it. The large pin in the center of the diff is still there and looks fine. The speed did not register while the clutch was engaged in gear as if it was being driven. At a glance from the outside of the trans looking around and in, everything looked fine. Whatever it is, is going to be internal, so i was hoping that I could get a heads up to what im dealing with to determine if we have to find another trans or if it would be a easy fix. I have opened and replaced diff's in b series transmissions before. Looks like I am going to have to do it again.
