Default Question about B-series Flywheels

I'm about to change my clutch in my hydro GSR. i want to get another stock flywheel and have it resurfaced b4 starting on my clutch. will an LS flywheel be the same as the GSR?
thanks ahead of time HT

All b series flywheels are the same except the type r one which is a few pounds lighter. You should go aftermarket if your going to spend around 100 bux.

I'm not a fan of resurfacing the flywheel, either. If you DO resurface, make sure to put the appropriate flywheel shim in to space the contact surface back to factory specs. If you want a budget flywheel, a brand new OEM type on Ebay or at the parts store is around 60 bucks. You can get a chromoly flywheel on Ebay for a little over 100 bucks. I personally like one around 12 lbs (not a fan of really light ones as they seem to affect the way the clutch engagement feels) and made from chromoly instead of aluminum.

Just depends what your flywheel looks like. If it looks OK and is not all hot spotted, you can reuse it. If it is hot spotted at all, just save up and buy a new flywheel for 60 bucks for the peace of mind.

actually.. . LS flywheels are the heaviest at around 18lbs. 96+gsr's have the same 16lb flywheel as b16's and are stamped with a PR3 on the back. Type R's being the lightest at approx. 14 lbs.

When you resurface a flywheel, you take the same amount off the pressure plate mounting surface... if whoever did your flywheel didn't do this, they shouldn't be paid.

I'd also throw out a lightweight flywheel. Running a fidanza 7.5lb was a nice improvement and with an exedy stage 1 clutch (which is basically OEM) there was no harder engagement than stock. So if you're not racing it hard, there is no change from stock engagement but it revs just a little faster. Worth it for under 200$ for the clutch, flywheel and pressureplate shipped.
