Re: Help Required for M4VA CVT Tranny Juddering
It's most likely a bad start clutch for the CVT trans. There is an old TSB on it which I can't seem to find right now, but if you go to your local Honda dealer than can probably dig it up and print you a copy. Basically though what it says is shuddering/juddering during low speed acceleration is caused by a bad start clutch.

what is start clutch basically ?? is it inside the transmission?? its a separate part can be replaced ?? or i will have to get the complete cvt? and as i said i recently swapped this setup thats why i used honda brand new cvt fluid ...
you sure this problem is not related with any kind of wiring issue?

The start clutch is basically a clutch pack like those found in a conventional automatic transmission, but in this case it replaces the torque converter. You can replace just this part but you have to pull the transmission in order to do so:
#1 in the diagram:
The current part number is: 06220-P2M-305 they're around $700 US.
If you do not have the TCM wired in correctly then that may be the cause of your trouble as well. However it is very common for the start clutch to go bad.

Depending on what is and isn't wired for the TCM it may not throw any trouble codes.
I'm not sure it's the start clutch, but it is quite likely. It's also likely another used transmission will have the same issue.
