GSR Trans: What work is needed for 550hp?
I'm in the process of getting things together for my Honda build:
My question is what transmission work is needed for that kind of power? I already have mfactory LSD, twin disk competition clutch. do I need to change the syncros?
btw Its going to be a daily if that matters

Re: GSR Trans: What work is needed for 550hp?
In terms of strengthening it theres nothing really to do. new bearings and again for road racing, the carbon-coated synchros are good. Our stock trannies should be fine for 600hp, ya did the LSD, if you are gonna be dumping the clutch, possibly consider the OMNI clutch master cylinder maybe, it shortens the clutch pedal stroke.. Remember to always use Honda MTF

Dude, stop misleading the newbie.
600hp is doable on a stock Honda transmission without 'breaking.' LSD, new bearings and carbon synchros are all my buddy's 750whp k24 turbo'd Civic needed.

I guess I lucked out with mine, stock Civic R trans lasted 6 years and many QM passes, oh and it never broke I just sold it for a GSR trans. I lucked out with axles as well, DS 2.9 axles were in my car from 2006 to 2016 and never broke. That is with 900whp and probably 200 QM passes over the years, mid 9 passes and around 60,000 miles of street driving.

I have no reason to mislead him and I'm speaking from my vast experience of building transmissions for varying power levels and various types of driving. With how tech oriented you are on here I would expect you to only answer a question like the OP's if you have the experience and data to back up your answer.

Final drive, diff, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear.
Here is a customers C5 trans. He kept breaking 3rd and 4th (every one a brand new trans from Acura) with 240whp. He finally grew tired of it and had me build a trans for him and hasn't had any issues since.

Re: GSR Trans: What work is needed for 550hp?
This cant be normal gear fatigue. Do ya know the cause of the problem? Cause looking at that one synchro, the teeth look nearly missing, and the one up top appears to be burnt. Did this guy shift really really fast? The only time I personally have seen that is when someone misinstalled something or something smaller broke and it got locked into 2 gears at the same time.
