gsr trans 2nd gear problem
Having trouble with my gsr trans. Here is the info on the trans:
car is a 94 civic coupe
stock 1-4 gsr gear set
synchrotech pro series carbon synchros
bwr 5th cuff
m factory lsd
synchrotech hardened 1-2 & 3-4 slider
4.40 final
stock linkage with a ipg solid rear bushing and poly front bushing
k tuned shifter
Trans pops out of 2nd. Feel like it is in 2nd all the way but pops right out. Almost seems like it is not pushing it all the way into gear. Any ideas? I can put it in 2nd with the car off and roll the car with my foot and it will pop right out and grind. Trans has been apart twice now and still cant figure it out, had 4th gear alignment spot on the first time and it was worse, dropped the counter shaft down a little and it helped but still is doing it.

Re: gsr trans 2nd gear problem
The countershaft is walking around, because (most likely) the snap ring bearing is worn out on that shaft. In this situation, the shaft will move away from the shift fork, preventing a solid 2nd gear shift. This is typical of a B or D series gearbox.
Other things to check are the shift piece second gear change parts, and the shift fork itself and shift detent ball.
When did this problem start?

Re: gsr trans 2nd gear problem
Trans is new to me. Bought it used, split the case and replaced the 1-2 slider with a synchrotech hardened piece. Had the case bead blasted. Reassembled and put in my car.
